1. The razor boys of Civic (interesting no-one’s told the police the Gubbmint would like us to call it “Canberra Central” or whatever it is):

ACT Policing has charged a 17-year-old male youth from Dunlop with intentional wounding following an incident in Garema Place yesterday (December 15).

Around 5.30pm the male youth was in Garema Place, Civic, sitting on a bench with a friend when he was approached by two other males. An argument broke out which escalated and became physical. It is alleged the male youth then produced a razor blade and slashed out at the victim. The victim was cut a number of times on the left side of his face and on his arm. He was conveyed to The Canberra Hospital for treatment.

The male youth allegedly decamped from the scene and caught a bus. He went to a friend’s house in Belconnen from where he telephoned police to inform them of his location.

AFP Forensic Services attended the scene at Garema Place.

The alleged male offender was charged with intentional wounding and will appear before the ACT Children’s Court this morning (December 16).

2. Home invasion plumbs new depths in Chifley:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a home invasion that occurred at a Charteris Crescent address in Chifley on the 15/12/08.

Around 9.20pm a 21-year-old woman was at home with her three-year-old son when she heard banging on the front door. Through a window she observed two men with their faces covered at the front door, one was holding an axe.

The victim then heard her front door being damaged. She immediately grabbed her son and ran out into her backyard. The males entered the house via the large hole they smashed in the front door and stole a handbag before leaving the scene. Police were notified and attended.

Both offenders were described as around 170cm (5’7”) tall and wearing dark clothing.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed the home invasion and who has not already spoken to police to contact Crime Stoppers.

3. Wrinklies collide:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a collision that occurred on Wattle Street, Lyneham on the 16/12/08.

About 1.20pm, a 94-year-old man was attempting to cross the pedestrian crossing on his motorised scooter when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west along Wattle Street.

The driver of the vehicle, a 79-year-old Lyneham man, was uninjured.

The 94-year-old man was treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance and conveyed to The Canberra Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision and is yet to speak to police to contact Crime Stoppers.

I was on the bus that the kid caught to Belconnen. It was horrible, he has blood all over his jumper.

I live in a street close to where that home invasion happened, and have had my handbag stolen from my house. But the front door was unlocked and it was 3pm (I was packing the car to go away for Christmas, so was walking in and out the front door every five minutes). Very worrying that scary home invasions are happening in Canberra.

Either the offenders were out of their gourds on drugs, the handbag was made of spun gold, or was like that suitcase in Pulp fiction and contains nothing but a light that makes people happy.

More than hardcore pop… downright weird. One of those stories where there’s gotta be a story behind the story.

The axe based home invasion sounds interesting. Chopping down a front door for a handbag seems a bit hardcore.

Sounds like self defence to me. Worked outside the cube.

I wish my lawn was emo … then it would cut itself.

That would make a great slogan for a T-shirt! Pity I’ve already seen about a thousand of them.

I wish my lawn was emo … then it would cut itself.

It had to happen eventually, Emos can only cut themselves so many times before cutting eachother.

Sounds like he was just trying to shave him.
