Never underestimate the power of a whinge on RiotACT. ACT Policing have updated abundantly this morning and here’s what they have:

1. A $4,000 Woden jewellry heist has ended badly for the alleged thieves:

Acting on information received, male and female persons of interest were sought by police. Around 2.45pm on Friday (August 15), a traffic stop was performed on a red Holden Vectra in Kitchener St, Hughes. Police arrested two males and two females.

Police then conducted a search of the home of one of the alleged female offenders and jewellery was seized along with a small quantity of a suspected illicit drug. An amount of currency was also seized from the possession of two of the alleged offenders.

A male and a female were released without charge. The 20-year-old male charged with theft will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (August 18). The other female, aged 18, from Hughes continues to help police with their enquiries.

2. Isabella Plains man has met up with Griffith woman and gone to Charnwood to allegedly commit an armed robbery (surely the less tooled up suburbs would make a better target?):

ACT Policing has arrested a 27-year-old male from Isabella Plains and an 18-year-old female from Griffith over an attempted armed robbery today (August 17).

The alleged incident took place at a bakery at Charnwood shops just before 8am. Police will allege the male entered the premises and threatened staff with a syringe while the female waited in a vehicle. The alleged offenders then fled in the vehicle in the direction of Belconnen.

With the assistance of the public, police arrived on scene where the vehicle the alleged offenders were driving had hit a tree and made the apprehensions.

The alleged offenders will face the ACT Magistrates court tomorrow morning (August 18) charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery.

3. And another syringe robbery in a Palmerston chemist has seen the police issue a somewhat hopeful face-fit:

The male entered the premises and threatened staff with the syringe before making off on foot in the direction of Grampians Street, Palmerston with an undisclosed sum of cash.

The male is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 20 to 25-years-old, 188cm (6’2”) tall and with a thin build, including a thin face. He was wearing a green-coloured beanie with platted cord on each side, a cream-coloured jacket with large buttons, grey cargo pants with a two-toned pattern and black rimmed sunglasses.

4. Look out for the men with the stolen chainsaws!

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary at a Fyshwick business premises in the early hours of Saturday, August 16.

Police were called to the Fyshwick Outdoor Power Centre around 7am on August 16, when it was reported that there had been forced entry to the front door of the premises and up to 10 Stihl chainsaws, with an approximate combined value of up to $15,000, had been stolen.

An alarm activation had occurred at the premises around 4.15am.

Police have issued a caution that should any members of the public be approached to purchase goods that are known to be stolen, that this constitutes an offence. Any such approach should be reported to police immediately.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons or activity in the area of Wiluna Street, Fyshwick , very early on Saturday morning, August 16.

5. Saturday night at the Fighthouse Lighthouse saw four people arrested after a blue:

ACT Policing is investigating a fight between patrons in The Lighthouse bar in Belconnen about 11.10pm on Saturday (August 16).

Four people, three men and one woman, were taken into custody by police for intoxicated behaviour and released the following morning.

Police are still investigating the circumstances which led [to] the fight commencing.

If you can help police with any of these matters you’re urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Correlation does not equal causation.

But it remains interesting.

Interesting claim JB. Didn’t realise you claimed to have such influence over ACT Policing’s committment to posting media releases. Clearly you are ‘de man’.

Johnboy clearly demonstrates that delusion and insanity are but a hair’s breadth away from genius when he writes “Never underestimate the power of a whinge on RiotACT. ACT Policing have updated abundantly this morning and here’s what they have:”

Do you really think it was beacuse of RA whinging JB……Really?

oh, ok, I realised why they robbed a bakery – someone told them that it was full of dough…

boom boom

wahahahahahahahaaaaa!

The Lighthouse fight was awesome. Haven’t seen a barney like that in ages.

Must of been a particularly violent or unusual type of fight to get a mention in the Police Wrap. Fights occur every Friday and Saturday night at pretty much every pub/nightclub in Canberra (possibly Australia).

So you were.
I must have gone into brainfade mode and forgotten.
I salute you and your willingness to find stolen dogs.
But I think he’s a cute enough puppy to deserve another round of fame.

Go Billy Bulldog!

Change the sunglasses for flying goggles and you have Biggles…

The bloke in Item 3 looks like a Russian Tank crewman – I’m sure I saw hime on the News the other night heading into Georgia.

re item 2:

were they for real? everyone is watching the charnwood shope really closely right now. (something about a stabbing??) maybe they would have done better to pick a less publicised target??
