1. When you really, really, need a smoke:
- ACT Policing is searching for a man following an aggravated robbery at the rear of a take-away shop in Macquarie yesterday afternoon (June 17).
Police received reports of an incident on Lawry Street just after 3.00pm in which a man threatened another with violence and demanded a cigarette. The offender then approached a second passer-by a short time later and produced a knife, again demanding a cigarette.
He then fled the scene in the direction of Jamieson Enclosed Oval before possibly following a bike path toward the Allman Circuit area.
The male offender is described as being about 20-22 years of age, Caucasian in appearance, approximately 6’2″ (186cm) tall, of skinny build and with short, fair hair. He was wearing a white hooded jumper, black track-suit pants and a white cap.
Police, including the K9 team, attended the scene shortly after and conducted a search of the area however were unable to locate any persons matching the description.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious persons in the area of Macquarie yesterday afternoon or who was approached by a male matching this description to contact Crime Stoppers.
