1. Evatt raid:

ACT Policing has arrested a 34-year-old Evatt woman following a search of her home yesterday (May 14).

Around 11.20am police executed the search warrant of the Gollan Street address following information to police of the possession of suspected stolen items. During the search warrant police seized 159 items believed to have been stolen from burglaries in the Belconnen area. The items included jewellery, wallets, computers, computer parts, car parts, games consoles and a number of computer games and DVDs.

The woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (May 15) charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of stolen property.

2. Friday night police pursuits:

ACT Policing arrested two drivers after separate pursuits – one in Canberra’s north and another in the Tuggeranong Valley — in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, May 16).

In the incident in the south, ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations officers were patrolling on Ashley Drive in Isabella Plains, around 12.45am today when they detected a BMW coupe travelling at 135km/h in a 80km/h zone.

The driver failed to stop when directed by police and when followed, was seen to drive off the roadway, onto nature strips and into the guttering several times. Police pursued the car for around one minute. It halted on Groveland Circuit with suspected suspension and steering damage, where police breath-tested the 27-year-old driver and subsequently found him to have a blood alcohol reading of 0.129. He faced the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

In the second incident in Canberra’s north, around 1.37am today on Ellenborough St, Lyneham, a General Duties patrol team positively identified the driver of a green Hyundai Excel as a 22-year-old Downer man wanted by police in relation to a breach of his bail conditions.

Police activated warning lights and siren but the driver refused to stop. Police followed the vehicle to the Barton Highway and into Mitchell, then along the Gungahlin Drive Expressway to Ngunnawal.

After a pursuit of around five minutes in which other patrol vehicles were called in an effort to contain the offending vehicle, the Excel struck a kerb in Amagula St, Ngunnawal and stopped. The alleged offender attempted to restart the car and refused to exit the damaged vehicle so police were required to force entry and extract him. He was later treated in hospital for minor lacerations to his left knee.

The offender will be held in custody until Monday morning (May 18) when he will face the ACT Magistrates Court for breach of bail and traffic-related offences.

all chasing that audi, of course… ; )

It would’ve been quite a sight – the Excel, followed by the cop car, with a NOS-equipped Barina bringing up the distant rear.

And yet the Excel, a thoroughly vile car, is the car most stolen in the ACT. Why???????

Vigilantes, fighting a hopeless battle.

Hmmm I s’pose. As long as it damages the car so much that it becomes a write-off.

because you can steal one with a paddle pop stick. Also good for ram raids so I hear.

And yet the Excel, a thoroughly vile car, is the car most stolen in the ACT. Why???????

It must be so fun for our police to continually put themselves and the public at risk to catch these retards again and again and again and again and again…

And on another note why oh why would you attempt to outrun police in an excel they are quite simply the worst car around and should only be driven by people who can’t afford something with a working gear box or some sort of steering.

I bet $100 that he is back out on our streets, anyone want to bet against me??? Remember kids, bail conditions are optional.

exactly, dvaey, so the ‘police’ arrested… they were ‘policing’ in making this arrest…

they do have funny hats but.

is it really ‘act policing‘, or should it be ‘act police’?? do we have a noun or an adverb enforcing the law here??

Well technically we have the AFP wearing a funny hat.

Well, isnt ‘act policing’ the adverb, and ‘AFP’ is the noun? The AFP perform ‘act policing’ duties.

is it really ‘act policing‘, or should it be ‘act police’?? do we have a noun or an adverb enforcing the law here??

And what was going on Sat night opposite Tongue and Groove? Why did it take 6 or 7 police officers to search one zooped up car?

(we thought they were just checking out the sound system in the boot – and had to show their friends!!)

…a General Duties patrol team positively identified the driver of a green Hyundai Excel as a 22-year-old Downer man wanted by police in relation to a breach of his bail conditions.

A good outcome no less. I would have imagines though, that someone on the lamb might have been trying to avoid the attentions of our police rather than attracting them, but there you go.

Surprise, surprise, breach of bail. Wonder if Higgins had anything to do with that.

So now he’ll have to go back to court and get his bail renewed.

And a man can dream…

come on thumper. if you ignore people for long enough, they usually do.

Ahh so that was the Excel beached near my place. What a loser haha
