About 12.10pm a white Mazda sedan and a light truck collided at the intersection of Wentworth Avenue and Mildura Street.

The driver of the Mazda, an 89-year-old woman from Aranda, was conveyed to The Canberra Hospital by ACT Ambulance in a critical condition however she died a short time later. The two male occupants in the light truck were not injured.

Agree with you about Wentworth Ave 123qwe, but I would also like to point out that driver behaviour along that road is also to blame. Although the speed limit is 60, traffic averages between 70-80kmh and it is not policed at all. I’ve been driving that road twice a day for the last 3 years and am yet to see a camera on it.

Also, people are so unaware of what’s going on around them that if someone did pull out in front of them they don’t have time to stop. Every day I see the same thing – someone pulls out from one of the side roads because they can’t see beyond the ridiculously large trees, and the person already on the road is so busy drinking their coffee or trying to brush their hair they have to slam on the brakes and swerve into the other lane. If they were concentrating, they would see the person there and think ‘I wonder if he’s going to pull out in front of me’ and already have the foot on the brakes.

Does the phrase “of islander appearance” keep cropping up in these reports or is it just my suppressed racism?

Is it just me, or has it been a bad year statistically for deaths on the roads here in the ACT?

Totally unknown what happened in this accident, but the uncontrolled intersections across Wentworth ave (Burke, Kembla, and Telopea Park West) are quite dangerous. I would rather see those through sections blocked off and have traffic move along Wentworth and have to double back to get where they want to go.

It’s The Pits carpark, as in motor racing circuit pits. From the late 60’s, and goes hand in hand with Skid Row (East Row).

From when street racing was performed by gentlemen.:)

Pitt Street? Isn’t that in Sydney?

ACT Policing issued a press release at 1:42pm on Sunday advising that Steven Kennedy was found safe and well. It didn’t provide any further details. I’m surprised that they didn’t place it online.
