1. The case of the missing blue Astra:

ACT Policing is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a stolen blue Holden Astra, driven by a man suspected to have been involved in a number of thefts and burglaries throughout the ACT, and who has a warrant for his arrest in NSW.

The vehicle was stolen during a burglary on a residence in Cavanough St, Phillip.

Police suspect it has been used in the commission of a number of offences.

The driver of the vehicle is a 21-year-old male. He is of Pacific Islander appearance with a solid build, olive skin, 172cm (5’8”) tall, brown eyes, and short dark brown hair. He may be in the company of a 25-year-old Caucasian female, with a slim build, 160cm (5’3”) tall, with blonde air and blue eyes.

At the time it was stolen, the blue Holden Astra had black and white NSW number plates, registration number WG 1984.

2. I always wondered why this didn’t happen more often:

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Fyshwick during which an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was taken.

Around 6.30am today (October 2) police attended the Game and Poultry shop at Fyshwick Markets, Dalby Street to reports of a burglary and the theft of a free standing ATM.

The incident appears to have occurred sometime between 9pm and 5am, when staff of surrounding businesses arrived at work. The offender(s) forced entry to the premises and appear to have used a vehicle to remove the ATM.

A significant amount of cash was in the machine at the time of the theft.

CCTV footage from surrounding businesses is being examined in an attempt to identify the offenders.

If that was the ATM in the middle of the ‘U’ at the Fyshwick Markets, I don’t understand why the stole it. It was so dodgy, often didn’t work and had an exposed phone and power line cable.

I wonder if the thieves took some frozen rabbits while they were there? They were directly next to the ATM 🙂

It was stolen from a game and poultry store?
I reckon an inside job. I think the Feds should be on the lookout for a gang of mallards in suits, driving lowered Lancers playing loud doof-doof

Although it occurs to me now that it would be almost as effective, and cheaper, just to tell people that’s what they do.

how about a phosphorous charge, then they’ll want to spend it on glasses and a dog….

I thought those freestanding ATMs used “benefit denial” – if you try to crack them open, a magnesium charge is set off to burn all the money.
