On one of my hobby-horses, which is the declining value of the crime statistics put out by the AFP, my latest Neighbourhood Watch newsletter reports:

“This month there is a change in the statistics provided by the AFPolice. For whatever reasons, they have decided not to i9nclude the date and approximate times of the criminal incidents reported to them.

“Unfortunately this decision does not enable the statistics to be used with any certainty. As well, the trend between night-time and day-time criminal activities is lost. In fact, the figures cannot be said to be statistics in the true meaning of the word. Clarification of the AFPolice intent has been sought from ACT NHWatch [I think they mean “by” NW], however no response has been received at the time of publication.”

This follows the AFP action a while ago to get NW to strip ALL crime data from their website. What is going on with the AFP management?
