1. It helps when you already know where they are:

A 35-year-old Macquarie man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (July 21) after a search of his residence revealed property items allegedly stolen from a recent burglary.

Police obtained a search warrant for the premises after General Duties officers conducting targeted patrolling in Jamieson yesterday afternoon (July 20) found him to be in possession of an implement they will allege he was intending to use in the course of a burglary.

The man has been charged with receiving stolen property, burglary and going equipped for theft. Investigations are continuing and further charges may be laid.

I dunno what the official name is for them. Those cargo-style dacks with big pockets on the legs. The NSW cops wear them, as do the protective services fake cops, and I am in favour of them as they make the blokes’ bums look nice.

This mob had them on, but they were made of shiny polyester-y stuff, not cotton.

Might be a good RA merchandising idea though, especially if you could add a Batman utility belt.

What are riot trousers and will RA be selling them?

I guess I was staggering through them about 1.15 or 1.20. There was quite a crowd. They might have been in training, I didn’t look to see if they had badges. They had those riot trousers on, and jumpers, not the usual duds. Seemed pretty relaxed and chatting amoungst themselves, all clutching a folded bit of paper, and all looking across Telopea Park, towards the bus depot/kingston/that church on the corner.

The larger and older cop scuttling about on the road was in the normal stuff they usually wear. Maybe he was showing them how to bail up cars, or how not to.

It almost looked like they were waiting for someone to arrive, and then were going to sing the skool song. But you’d imagine they’d do that at the front of the building, on Brisbane Ave, not on the telopea park side.

Maybe Mr Whippie now sell doughnuts.

I strolled up Darling St in Barton at about 13:25 and didn’t see anything of the alleged gathering.

not training?

I can see that place from my office window. How far from there are you, ant?

Thought I could smell pork…………..

Speaking of police, does anyone know what a large bunch of them are doing standing on the north side of Telopea Park (behind the tennis courts beside the cop training place) right now?!

There is a crowd in trousers with pockets on the legs, wearing jumpers, clutching folded bits of paper and facing the Kingston direction looking expectant. About 20 or 30 of them.

A big fat one was running around on the road, accosting cars.

It looked like they were lining up to sing a song or something (possibly on the bits of paper).
