1. Rescue!

ACT Policing’s Rural Patrol has successfully found a 41-year-old man who went missing around 5.50pm yesterday (November 21) in the area of Murray’s Corner Paddy’s River Road.

The man had been riding trail bikes on fire tracks in the area with a friend when he injured his leg. His 25-year-old friend went to get a car but when he returned the 41-year-old could not be located.

The friend made his way to Murray’s Corner where State Emergency Services members were working. Police attended and a unified command post was established. ACT Policing’s Specialist Response and Security and Rural Patrol officers commenced a search of the area.

Shortly before 11pm Rural Patrol officers located the missing man on one of the tracks. ACT Ambulance Services attended and conveyed the male to The Canberra Hospital with a possible broken leg.

2. You don’t want to be stopped on the GDE:

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation Team is investigating a two-vehicle collision on the Gungahlin Drive Extension (GDE) in which a 39-year-old Palmerston man was injured today (November 21).

The incident occurred around 1.23pm northbound on the GDE, just before the overpass of the Barton Highway, when a blue Mazda allegedly ran into the back of a white Ford Laser hatchback parked on the side of the road. The 39-year-old driver of the Laser was conveyed to The Canberra Hospital with spinal injuries.

The driver of the Mazda is assisting police with inquiries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen a white Laser parked on the side of the road on the GDE just prior to the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Mr Gillespie said :

Stanhope should be sued for the damage caused in accidents such as this one and accidents, problems etc due to the single-lane roads with NOWHERE TO PASS.

I sure hope you dont visit any big cities, where youll find LOTS of one-way roads with nowhere to pass. Just because the driver in front of you is only sitting on 81 in the 80 zone, it doesnt mean you HAVE TO PASS, even if you are driving on a Canberra road, its not a requirement to pass everyone you can.

Today’s CT indicated the driver was arrested and chareged with DUI

Where did it say anyone was drunk?

The GDE single-lane roads are a massive joke and an accident like this is only waiting to happen especially if no room is allowed for others to pass. Stanhope should be sued for the damage caused in accidents such as this one and accidents, problems etc due to the single-lane roads with NOWHERE TO PASS. Whose hair-brained idea was to build Gungahlin in the first place, with crappy Internet access, crappy road setups that cause bottlenecks, and a burden on the rest of Canberra. Can’t you see that these new suburbs and new high-rises are just more places to put the excesses of Canberra’s ever-increasing population if you ask me.

Not condoning the drunk driver in the incident though…..
