1. Air Force medals and Mercedes stolen:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary which occurred in Braddon yesterday (Monday, April 20).

Between 3pm and 6pm the Elder Street residence was broken into and searched. A number of Defence medals for a current Air Force member including an Iraq Campaign medal, an Active Service medal and a Defence Force Service medal were taken. These medals are stamped and embossed with the member’s name.

Also taken was a personal laptop, a watch and a set of car keys. The offenders then stole a nine-year-old white M Class Mercedes Station Wagon. Paint was evident on both sides of the garage exit which would suggest obvious panel damage was sustained to both sides of the vehicle during the theft.

AFP Forensic Services attended the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons in Elder Street, Braddon, yesterday to contact Crime Stoppers.

2. Fraser Firearms Heist:

ACT Policing is investigating a burglary in Fraser yesterday (April 21) in which four firearms were stolen.

Police were called to the Nott Street residence about 12.45pm after receiving a report of suspicious activity at the house. The offenders gained entry via a front bedroom window, the house ransacked before the four firearms were removed.

Police suspect two males may have been involved. Both were wearing black clothing and are described as being in their 20’s, one with a slim build and blonde streaks in his hair, and the other with a heavier build.

A suspicious vehicle was also observed in the street around the time of the incident. It is described as small and white, possibly a Nissan with pop-up lights and a ‘Magic’ sticker across the bonnet.

The four firearms stolen include two BRNO .22 calibre rifles, a BRNO .243 calibre rifle and a Breda Armitalia 12 gauge double barrel shot gun.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around Nott Street yesterday morning or who may be able to identify the males or the vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers.

If you can help police contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
