1. The ABC reports that the Cooma tip has been rummaged through in the search for evidence relating to the Charnwood murder. The AFP media release on this is now online.

2. Want a big TV? It turns out you can’t just walk out the door of the store with one.

“ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred at Myer in Tuggeranong yesterday afternoon (September 20).

Around 1:15pm police were called to the Myer store following reports that a male and female had walked out of the shop with a large LCD television. When approached by a male shop assistant the male offender produced a large knife, telling him not to follow.

The male offender is described as 5’11” to 6’ (180 to 182cm) tall, of stocky build, with olive skin, short dark hair that is slightly receding and a round face. He was wearing a grey shirt. The female is described as 5’4″ to 5’6″ (162 to 167cms) tall, with long dark hair and was wearing dark coloured clothes.

The two offenders left the scene in a blue coloured 2001 Holden Astra.”

3. Friday night Higgins gatecrashers have been arrested:

ACT Policing has arrested three males after an altercation at a party on Friday night (September 19).

Around 10:30pm on Friday police were called to disperse a crowd after an altercation broke out at a party on Castieau Street, Higgins. Then around midnight, three vehicles pulled up at the same address and a number of people allegedly forced entry into the premises. Extensive damage was caused to the property with a number of windows smashed and interior walls damaged. Offenders also attacked persons inside the premises, with one male sustaining a laceration to his head and another male a broken arm.

Police attended the scene and quickly located three suspects. Two juvenile males aged 17 from Scullin and Spence were arrested and charge with aggravated burglary. A further male was arrested but later release without charge.

Detective Superintendent Michael Kilfoyle has reminded the public of the dangers of letting a party get out of control.

“We want to remind the community that excessive drinking can lead to young people finding themselves in vulnerable situations.”

“Sexual assault, theft and other criminal behaviour can more readily occur when people are under the influence of alcohol, or drugs – where their judgement or responses are impaired.”

“There are some very clear guidelines if you are hosting a party at home, and one of them is to ensure you have a specific guest list. ACT Policing can provide you with a Party Smart kit to help you plan your event,” says D/Supt Kilfoyle.

The two 17-year-old alleged male offenders will face the ACT Children’s Court tomorrow (Monday, September 22).”

4. Car-jacking bad girls of Woden!

“ACT Policing has arrested two females aged 21 and 18 after an aggravated robbery at the Neptune Street car park, Woden plaza, Woden last night (Friday, September 19).

About 6.30pm yesterday a 53-year-old Fadden woman returned to her vehicle, a black Mercedes ‘C’ class saloon. Once in her car, one of the alleged female offenders entered the vehicle via the unlocked passenger side door and ordered the victim out of her vehicle. When the victim did not comply the alleged female offender brandished a knife and cut the victim twice on the thumb. The second alleged female offender then opened the driver’s side door and dragged the victim from the car.

The two alleged female offenders then drove the vehicle from the car park. A short time later the vehicle was located by police patrols and the two alleged offenders were arrested from a home in Bonython.

The 21-year-old alleged female offender will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (September 20) charged with aggravated robbery. The 18-year-old alleged female offender continues to assist police with their inquiries.”

Anyone who can help the police with any of these matters should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

One thousand apologies.

No wait, maybe I should get on the offensive like others.

Thumper and OH; you can go and….

Yep, ‘Wo is me’ is an introduction from a member of a Chinese trade delegation.

Wo is me. I should go and steal a car at knife point, that should do the trick.

This incident could have turned pear shaped, like the Charnie take away shop dust-up. The car owner is probably lucky more serious physical injury did not occurr.

Does anyone know how little miss depression went at the ACT Wrist Slapping Court?

Report in the Times on the Woden incident had the girl who pulled the knife telling the court she “was depressed” and “didn’t know why she’d stolen the car”. Sorry babe but if you walk the streets in this town armed with a knife I want you banged up and off the streets. The female car owner is probably traumatised for life. Give me a prospective election candidate who’d going to promise to deliver tough deterrent sentences and let’s get scum like this girl put away where where she can reflect on her choices in life.

It actually sounds to me like you really can just walk out of the store with one!

That party looked pretty full on since the Police were there until after 1230pm.

The two 17-year-old alleged male offenders will face the ACT Children’s Court tomorrow

Good grief! Children’s court hey?! Well, like I said previously – if I was their age and knew about Canberra’s new Summer Camp Facility with heated indoor pool, sweet basketball courts and big screen TV – I’d be finding any excuse. Mind you – I suspect that these little turds will get off much lighter than that.

“There are some very clear guidelines if you are hosting a party at home, and one of them is to ensure you have a specific guest list. ACT Policing can provide you with a Party Smart kit to help you plan your event,” says D/Supt Kilfoyle.

Not sure how this waste of money “party smart kit” will ward off forced entry. It’s like D/Supt Kilfoyle either missed the point – or didn’t actually listen to the actual facts of the case before spouting off with his half-baked advice.
