I bet the scum who “tried to do a runner” when he is sentenced will turn out to have “38 prior convictions”.

Which the ACT judiciary will take as a prompt to give him his 39th chance.

It’s time people like that were locked-up for good. And not in Canberra’s 5-star holiday-resort “prison”, either.

Is anyone taking bets on when someone next gets killed in a crash? I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

There isn’t anthing reliable yet to confirm how serious it was but something really nasty happened yesterday at the corner of Beasley and Athllon at the Torrens/ Farrer turnoff. Seemed to be 3 cars involved including one requiring a cut apart to remove the passengers. Police were still there 5 hours later according to the radio traffic report. Accuracy of details is based only on what my son saw from the bus window so this is not a reliable report.
I only hope bets don’t need to be called off already.

Heard on the radio it was due to someone doing 140km on Beazley (I think?), who then tried to do a runner when the police turned the lights on. Ran a red light into another car. All survived, but serious injuries to some of the innocent party. A 24 year old man was arrested over the incident.

Yep – I saw that one – it occurred at about 2:30pm, notlong after the fog had lifted.
A Tarago appeared to have been hit by something small, like a Suzuki Swift.
The Tarago had massive damage to its drivers’ side front wing.
The small car was absolutely trashed, with its windscreen blown out from the inside.
The woman in the Tarago was able to open her door but wasn’t getting out.
The person in the small car was not moving, and I’d be surprised if he survived.
An extremely ugly incident, I feel very sorry for the rescue workers who had to deal with this one.

I wonder how many other cars have driven past any collision site under the same conditions without crashing themselves. Driver error is almost always a sure bet.

Idiots + speed + fog + slippery road = roll over

+1 bd84

I drove past the accident site in Bradfield st Downer the other day it appears that the “traffic calming” roundabout did nothing to calm the vehicle involved.

SuperNeit was entertaining AND he eschewed the use of long bureaucratic words when holding forth about road idiots, which made him worth listening to. And he had a funny voice. I hope the AFP media management people didn’t elbow him off.

You have a very unhealthy fascination of Mr Neit !!!! Is there something you wish to get off your chest ant !!! LOL, just joking.

He is a man that has seen a lot of death unfortunately and is passionate about the road safety of the community. Don’t know what he is currently doing.

No it wasn’t. It was the roads fault !!!!!

Which reminds me, what have your lot done with SuperNeit? I quite enjoyed his high-pitched soliloquys against idiot drivers.

If they banned all Excels and Lancers, would the crash rate reduce I wonder? It’d sure do wonders for rear-enders I suspect.

And raise the licensing age to 41.

Two 18 year old’s and a 17 year old? Damn, when will city planners design roads our younger people can drive on. Sure some of you will blame speed, but I prefer to blame bendy roads, corners, poor placement of trees etc.

*Standing-by to post on yet another roadside memorial thread…*

They don’t plant the trees on the road and they cannot build a road without a corner or a bend somewhere.

What you’ve never heard of a a road-plant?

Thx anyway bd84, but when sarcasm has to be explained, it loses it’s effect.

Ouch! Glad they got out OK (and I hope they realise how lucky they are to have escaped with ‘minor injuries’.
