1. Mawson collision explained:
- ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are investigating a three vehicle collision which has resulted in a 24-year-old man being arrested.
A mobile Traffic Operations Officer was on patrol in the Mawson area around 2.20pm today (June 23) when he recorded a Suzuki Swift allegedly traveling over 140km/h in the 60km/h zone on Beasley Street. The driver was conveyed to The Canberra Hospital for minor injuries and remains there under police guard. His female passenger is currently being treated for a broken leg. The occupants of the two other vehicles were treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service and two occupants were conveyed to The Canberra Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The alleged offender will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (June 24) charged with culpable driving causing grievous bodily harm, failing to stop when requested by police and breaching his bail conditions.
Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the circumstances prior to the collision and is yet to speak to police, to contact Crime Stoppers.
