1. They messed with the wrong home owner:

ACT Policing has arrested three young males and one young female for three aggravated burglaries in Page yesterday (Thursday September 23).

Around 10.00am a resident of Birelle Street in Page contacted police after seeing the four youths acting suspiciously in the rear yard of her neighbour’s property. A detailed description of the youths was provided to Belconnen patrol members with the youths being located within the hour on Belconnen Way by the home owner.

Belconnen patrol attended and arrested the youths, seizing a large amount of property that was in their possession from the burglaries. All four youths have been charged with three counts of aggravated burglary and one count of theft. They will appear in the Children’s Court on a later date.

2. Trail bikers v.Dog Walkers:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault of a 62-year-old man which occurred on the Chisholm playing fields yesterday (September 23).

Around 9pm the victim had been walking his dog on the Chisholm playing fields when he noticed a group of about 4 or 5 males and 1 female aged in their late teens. The victim was approached by one of the offenders on a trail bike.

The victim asked the trail bike rider to leave the oval, after which the rest of the group approached the victim. An argument started which resulted in the victim being punched to the head. The victim left the address and was followed by the group until he entered his home.

ACT Ambulance Service attended the victim’s home where he received treatment for facial injuries sustained in the assault.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the group of people to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

3. Got another one:

ACT Policing has arrested a 21-year-old Duffy man for aggravated burglary last night (Friday September 24).

About 11.05pm two males have entered a home in Duffy armed with knives and threatened the occupants before taking off with an amount of property.

One male was located a short time later by SRS-K9 in a nearby street. He was arrested and transported to the City Watch House. The male will face the Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with Aggravated Burglary.

The second male has not been arrested with enquiries still continuing.

Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

4. Pedestrian collides with police vehicle:

Last night (Friday, September 24) ACT Policing received two separate reports from members of the public regarding youths running into the middle of a road in Richardson.

A patrol car was dispatched to the area after reports that there were youths drinking and jumping out in front of vehicles on Clift Crescent. The patrol was unable to locate any youths and were subsequently dispatched to another job.

As the patrol was driving along Clift Crescent, near the Richardson shops, to an incident in Calwell, a 17-year-old male has run from the parkland directly at the police vehicle. The driver of the police vehicle has braked however the teenage male has collided with the front left corner of the vehicle, causing damage to the vehicle and injuring himself.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) attended and conducted an examination of the scene, with Clift Crescent being closed for three hours (from 9pm to midnight) between Heagney Crescent and Meeson Street.

Friends of the male have provided statements to police and are assisting police with their enquiries. The male was transported to The Canberra Hospital and is being treated for his injuries, which are not considered life threatening.

It seems darwin was partially at work.

Run them down. They are clearly idiots and the world will be a better place without them or their influence.

Yeah, but knowing my luck, I’d get lynched by the survivors…

What…No snide comments from the Snivels? Nary a plod to blame (for diligently doing their job?)
This isn’t the Riotact I’m used to!

Here’s a provocative thought…pity the coppers for having to put up with this as yet another case of them putting with the grief of cleaning up the mental health leftovers. I hope the kid gets the help he needs, but I expect a lawsuit.

Was it a full moon when these assaults happened! Seriously though there needs to be more entertainment for our youth, instead of these silly art thingies! Why not have a fun park like Luner Park for the youth of Canberra.

Number 4 would have been a bad night for that particular cop.

Hitting a juvenile with your car… Pretty hard to justify that use of force 🙂

By the sounds of it, it was “juvenile hits police car”. Juvenile should be charged with damage commonwealth property…….

🙂

THEN punched in the face… Stupid little Jerk!

Wow, that’s one quick demonstration of karma. Make a bloody nuisance of yourself, jump out in front of moving cars (presumably to enjoy the look of panic on the face of the driver) – and get hit by a car! Massively funny.

“Pedestrian collides with police vehicle” – possibly the most intriguing Media Release by the AFP so far this year…

What’s the problem with Canberra youth? Do they have no parents?

…quite often, the problem *IS* those parents…

It bothers many people Special G but not our elected representatives – too busy sitting on their backsides dreaming up more useless ways to spend our money than actually tacking any thing that is a real problem and needs sorting out.

“What’s the problem with Canberra youth? Do they have no parents?”

Correct. The youth of Canberra are genetically engineered in petri dishes and test tubes

Is getting caught by the police anything more than a mild inconvenience for repeat burglars in Canberra?

Pretty much. Chance to catch up with some mates on remand. Learn some new tricks etc.

Thought public servants would breed good kids.

Why? Should they be different to anybody else? I don’t believe that anybody decent would want thier kids to go off the rails.

This should bother everybody and is not something that will go away.

.

They obviously need counselling, a support group, more facilities and mentoring.

Though thorough application of a baseball bat would be far cheaper and much more effective.

Jumping out in front of traffic, hell, the folks at ANU do that sober.

When is the court system going to realise that burglary is actually a serious offence and giving people some decent jail time for this offence. 5000 odd burglaries a year in the ACT – does this not bother anyone.
