1. Alleged Tuggy Thuggy facefit:

ACT Policing has released a forensic facefit of a male sought in relation to a vicious group assault on a 27-year-old man in Kambah, early on Sunday March 8.

The suspect in the facefit was one of a group of males and females who were in a green Toyota Corolla driving on Chirnside Circuit in Kambah around 6.40am on March 8. This suspect is further described as Caucasian, aged between 18-19 years, between 160cm to 170cm (5’3” – 5’7”) in height, with a small-to-medium build, clean shaven and with close-cropped brown hair.

The victim was driving a silver Commodore station wagon which collided with the green Corolla.

An argument has then ensued, resulting in the Commodore driver being chased and subsequently assaulted along Chirnside Place by a number of males and females from the Corolla.

A forensic facefit of the suspect

The victim suffered a number of fractures and lacerations as a result of the assault, and was found unconscious a number of hours later in a nearby street.

Detectives are particularly anxious to interview a woman who was walking her dog on or near Chirnside Circuit at the time and may have witnessed the collision and/or the subsequent assault. She is urged to call police on 131-444.

2. Police ready for Rebels’ Big Day Out at the Serbian Club:

ACT Policing is advising members of the public that there will be an increase in traffic and visitors to Canberra over the next few days.

On Saturday afternoon the annual motorbike and tattoo show will be held at the Serbian Club in Mawson and large crowds are expected to attend. The public event is organised by the Rebels Motorcycle Club.

As with all large events, ACT Policing will have a visible presence around the area to manage the influx of people and traffic and will also patrol entertainment precincts and areas containing licensed establishments following the show.

Members of ACT Policing Traffic Operations will also increase patrols on our roads over the weekend to manage any traffic issues.

Members from ACT Policing’s Crime Prevention unit have liaised with local shop and business owners in the Mawson area to advise them of the anticipated increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

The large numbers of visitors are expected to remain in Canberra for a number of days, and as such ACT Policing will respond accordingly over the weekend and into early next week to ensure all events run smoothly and disruption to the public is kept to a minimum.

ACT Policing would like to remind people participating in the weekend events to enjoy themselves however use common sense strategies when out and about.

If you can help police contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.

I will be attending the tattoo and bike show were all looking forward to the event my 8 year old girls love all the “cool” bikes and I’m not in the least worried about any trouble there hasn’t been any in the past.
And the bonus with an increased number of bikies in town due to events earlier in the week is more bikes to enjoy.

I’ll be popping out his arvo for a look too.

Dvaey – The focus of ACT Police switched to high vis years ago so I am not quite sure where you are coming from. The whole suburban policing strategy, people feeling safe in their homes and things like that.

I was at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner the other night when The Cheiftain made a joke about calculating the contribution 800 bikies would make to the local economy. Got a good laugh (actually, it’s the first time I’ve heard him say anything genuinely funny).

I am so glad i dont work in mawson anymore.

I bet they don’t! Those boys are quite fussy.

Hehehehe there are probably a couple who prefer the old haggard look.

I don’t think the boys from Cube will be salivating at what’s *in* the leather though.

If the rebels come into Civic in their leathers on Saturday evening they’ll have all the boys from Cube salivating at all that leather. 🙂

Tooks, my point is that over the past couple of years, ACT police seem to have moved from high visibility with uniforms and shiny white marked police cars, into un-uniformed dress and discreet cars, which (apparently) hide their visibility while still (apparently) providing the same presence on our roads. It seems the only time the police bother to actually bring out anything high-visibility, is when there is some media attention. If the police are there in their WRXs and plain blue/red falcons, the image they’d present to the bikers is different to if they were all there in high-vis marked cars.

I understand the point you’re trying to make, but just wondering how they seem “to have moved from high visibility with uniforms” etc. What do you base that on?

Last year’s Bike and Tattoo show had a huge (uniformed) police presence, this year will be no different.

I went to the bike show last year, enjoyed the day looking at the bikes, then went back for the party in the evening. I had a great time, it was friendly, easygoing, and lots of awesome bikes. There was coppers everywhere, but I didn’t see any aggravation, though apparently there was a few idiots around Mawson on bikes late in the night. But basically, the people who had bikes worthy of display were not silly enough to ride them around after a few beers – they were locked up.

I’m not so sure of going tomorrow because there could be a high level of aggravation. Pity, because it was a good day out last year. The Rebs are getting old, you know… x

The Rebels will be hoping the police disappear on Monday, seeing as they all plan on staying here for the Rick Roberts funeral.

Read all about it on Tuesday……

Why would undercover police put uniforms on? That’s what uniform police are for. Given the event ends on Sunday, then obviously the visible police presence will disappear by Monday.

I wonder if this means all the undercover police will suddenly put uniforms on and appear in marked cars to actually have a visible police presence? I also wonder how long after this event, the visible police presence will disappear.. gone by Monday morning maybe?

I propose we hold a public rally against these Caucasian grubs.

But will won’t be getting violent, now, will we? *wink wink nudge nudge*

And they smell funny. Like milk.

I’m sick of these damn caucasians – they’re responsible for ALL the crime in Canberra. I’m not racist, but, if they don’t like the laws here, they should go back to where they come from.

I’m sick of them sticking to their own culture and not assimilating with anyone elses. Their religion is old and barbaric, their spiritual leaders actively promote old-fashioned, restrictive lifestyles and people who follow their religion commit terrorist acts. They want to turn this country into one of their own dismal failures. Nobody asked them to come here, it’s not anyone else’s fault they f-cked up their own countries. Before they came here, Australia didn’t have gangs and crime.

F-ckin whiteys!

Another good reason to keep that “club” lock in your car whether you use it or not.

of course, if we like kambah, then we move from belco to kambah…

Nothing wrong with Kambah, we just occassionaly get people from belcompton passing through and starting trouble like this.

Wishuwell, i agree with you!!

I didn’t know Carl Barron lived in Tuggers.

Yeah, white hicks originated in Kambah, didntchya know?

I thought the attack was in Kambah Jim?
He was already in his native habitat.

Could it be the guy in the stolen Police uniform?
