1. It’s not a knife, it’s a till-opener:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an armed robbery at the IGA supermarket at Lyons which occurred around 7.10pm Wednesday 26 May, 2010.

An unknown male has entered the supermarket and threatened a female staff member with a knife, demanding cash. The employee opened the till and the male has reached over and grabbed notes from the till.

The unknown male offender is described as Caucasian, approximately 6’ tall, slim build with sandy blonde hair. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, a black T-shirt and black tracksuit pants.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Lyons shops overnight or who knows the identity of the offender to contact Crime Stoppers.

2. Massed Thuggies of Mawson:

ACT Policing is investigating the aggravated robbery of a 32-year-old Torrens man after he withdrew money from an ATM in the Southlands Shopping Centre around 10:45pm Wednesday, May 26, 2010.

The man had withdrawn a sum of money from the ATM when he was approached by a group of 10-12 youths. One of the male youths threatened the man with a knife, to which he handed over his money and other personal property. The man was not injured during the incident.

The young male offender with the knife is described as Caucasian, 17 years of age, about 174cm to 178cm (5’8” to 5’10”) tall and with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and black jeans, a black cap, and a black-and-white bandana covering his nose and mouth.

Some of the youths later stole the victim’s car, a blue Hyundai i30, parked in the car park adjacent to the shopping centre, whilst others escaped on foot. The car was later recovered a short distance away in Beasley Street, Mawson.

Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area of the Southlands Shopping Centre or Beasley Street, Mawson at the time of the incident and may have noticed any suspicious persons, or may have seen the offenders, to contact Crime Stoppers.
