1. Suede coat and beanie – never a good look:
- ACT Policing is investigating two robberies which occurred this afternoon (June 3) which may be linked.
Just after 2.30pm a man carrying a knife entered a Doctors surgery on Anembo Street in Narrabundah and demanded money, making off with a sum of cash a short time later.
The man was observed leaving the scene in a white 1994 Nissan Navara utility, bearing ACT registration YDQ176. This vehicle was stolen from Macquarie yesterday.
The man was described as being in his late 40’s, unshaven and wearing a suede coat, a beanie and glasses.
Police also responded to a report of a robbery in Watson about 4.00pm after a man entered a beauty salon and threatened staff with a knife, before leaving with an amount of cash. He was seen leaving the area in a Nissan Navara utility matching the description of the vehicle used during the earlier Narrabundah robbery.
Police are currently searching these areas for the vehicle and offender and are requesting the community’s assistance by providing any information or sightings of this vehicle directly to police on 131 444.

General Duties officers and members of the Territory Investigations Group are investigating the two incidents and AFP Forensic Services will conduct examinations of both scenes.

2. Garema Place – home of the stabby:
- ACT Policing has arrested a 24-year-old Griffith man for the alleged stabbing in O’Neill Street, Spence on Tuesday June 2.
Police located the victim, a 22-year-old man, at the Spence shops around 4.45pm after multiple reports of a male stabbed at the location.
ACT Ambulance treated a male person at the scene before transporting him to hospital.
Police located the alleged offender in Garema Place on June 3 and arrested him.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm.

3. Belco burglary and assault:
- ACT Policing arrested a 50-year-old man after a robbery in Belconnen yesterday (June 3).
About 6.20pm the alleged offender entered a unit on Chandler Street, Belconnen and assaulted the occupant before taking a small amount of property and leaving.
Police attended the residence about 6.30pm and arrested the alleged offender who was located nearby in possession of the stolen items.
The alleged offender was arrested and conveyed to the regional watch house where he was charged with robbery. He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (June 4).

4. 15 year olds make poor drivers:
- ACT Policing is investigating the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle collision in Duffy in the early hours of this morning.
Police responded to the collision on Eucumbene Drive about 2.20am, with ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire Brigade already in attendance. It is understood a number of nearby neighbours contacted emergency services after being woken by the collision.
The 15-year-old male driver and 19-year-old female passenger were cut from the vehicle and transported to The Canberra Hospital suffering serious injuries.
Police have confirmed that the vehicle, a white Hyundai Excel, was stolen from a residence in Macgregor about 4.30am yesterday morning (June 3).
Two males located at the scene of the collision are assisting members of the Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) with their investigation.
Witnesses report a further five males were seen leaving the scene in two vehicles shortly after the collision, and police are very keen to speak with these males, or anyone who may know who they are. The vehicles were both described as older model sedans, one cream in colour and one dark in colour.
CIRT Sergeant Dick Dauth says collisions like these are frustrating for police, and cause undue angst and grief for the friends and family of those involved.
“Obviously it is of great concern to police that a 15-year-old is driving a vehicle and this incident should highlight the serious consequences of mixing stupidity and inexperienced driving. Unfortunately we see time and again that inexperienced drivers are over-confident in their driving ability, and the results are often tragic,” Sgt Dauth said.

5. Maybe we need to get tough on black track suit pants?:
- ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a robbery which occurred in a car park on Keltie Street in Phillip today (June 4).
Around 1.50pm a 52-year-old Forrest man left the Commonwealth Bank at Woden Plaza with money in a bank bag. As the victim went to drive away a male offender has opened the passenger-side door and taken the bag out of the vehicle. The offender then made off with the bag of cash in the direction of Melrose Drive, Lyons.
The offender is described as Caucasian, in his 20s, around 183cm (6’) tall, with brown hair and was wearing a long-sleeved royal-blue top and black track suit pants.
AFP Forensic Services attended the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons or activity in the area of Woden Plaza early this afternoon to contact Crime Stoppers.
