1. Coming off the road was a bit of a tell:

ACT Policing has arrested a 23-year-old man following a single vehicle collision on the Gungahlin Drive Extension (GDE) in Bruce yesterday (October 3) during which a 29-year-old male passenger suffered serious injuries.

The incident allegedly occurred around 8.49pm when the vehicle was negotiating a long sweeping right bend, northbound. The vehicle rotated sideways off the road and went up an embankment on the western side of the GDE before rolling a number of times. The passenger was taken to Calvary Hospital.

The GDE was closed for around three hours for ACT Policing Collision Investigation Team to examine the incident.

The alleged offender has been charged with Culpable Drive GBH Alcohol and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (October 4).

We’re currently up to the GDEE.
Gungahlin Drive Extension Extension.

Once the EE component is finished, then it will be just Gungahlin Drive again.

Well no, they aren’t extending it anymore they are duplicating it, so wont it be the GDED?

Isn’t it funny that that one road has so many different names? Tharwa Drive, Drakeford Drive, Tuggeranong Parkway, Caswell Drive, Gungahlin Drive and of course the GDE… I mean it is all just one road….

In that case, “everyone” is wrong, as caf has rightly pointed out.

And yet, it will probably be called the GDE for the rest of time. It’s a bit shorter than “The Road The Bloody Government Should Have Made 2 Lanes To Bloody Well Start With”.

I can’t believe even police media are now calling it “The GDE”. The GDE was a construction project; the road is just “Gungahlin Drive” (or, south of Belconnen Way, “Caswell Drive”).

Lock him up and throw away the key.

That’s a bit ‘arsh innit? Especially considering we hardly even do that for murders (or whatever we call people who take the lives of others now we don’t have murder convictions in the ‘berra.). Pillary might be a more acceptable punishment…

😉

🙂 Now you’re talking!!! Stocks in Garema Place – think about the commercial opportunities for people selling over-ripe tomatoes and over-ripe eggs!

Lucky he didn’t hit any artwork – that would be a hanging offence, right?
