- ACT Policing has arrested two men after an incident this afternoon (Friday, August 7) in which a shoplifter allegedly produced a knife in an attempt to avoid apprehension.
The incident occurred around 3.15pm today when a store security guard attempted to stop and question two alleged shoplifters at a Woden Plaza store.
Some property was recovered, then one offender allegedly produced a knife and both men ran from the Plaza toward the Woden Bus Interchange.
Police responded and began an immediate search of the area, locating a male answering to a description provided. A 32-year-old Holder man was taken into custody on one of the interchange platforms, a knife and a replica firearm was seized during the arrest, and he is currently being questioned by police.
A 30-year-old man from Latham was apprehended about half an hour later inside the Plaza. Police interviews and investigations are ongoing.
