1. Fraser fatality:

ACT Policing is investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred early this morning, resulting in the death of a male.

Police were called to the collision on Kuringa Drive about 3.20am after a nearby resident heard the crash. The vehicle was located approximately 30 metres off the roadway and had come to rest against a tree. The male driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, was already deceased. He is yet to be formally identified.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are on site and are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information which may assist police with their investigations is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Police are urging all motorists to drive safely over the long weekend, and to exercise extra caution in wet and slippery conditions.

Can someone tell me why does Kuringa Drive have that curvy bit at the Fraser end anyway? Please don’t tell me it has to do with those “precious” trees.

Steering wheels and brakes should, theoretically, allow most people to navigate curvy bits.

Unbelievable. You mean as the driver of a car it’s MY responsibility to drive around corners?!?!

WIN TV has just shown footage of this ‘accident’.

Interestingly, the passenger compartment appeared practically undamaged, which suggests the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Non use of seatbelt? Deliberate self harm?

Perhaps we should save the speculation until after the coroner’s inquest. The family of this poor man don’t need to read this sh*t on the internet.

The road doesn’t need to be upgraded. People just need to obey the speed limit and DRIVE TO THE CONDITIONS.

If it is raining, maybe, and this might sound crazy; slow down for the corners.

Future-proofing for a full T-intersection down the track?

It should be straightened where it goes around those trees & continued through to connect to Douglas Waterhouse Drive in Dunlop. Then the land in between Fraser/Spence & Hall could be opened up for development just as Kinlyside is being developed.

And will continue to do so till people learn how to drive properly and to the conditions.

Fixed for you.

I have driven that road hundreds of times and never come close to having an accident, why does the road need “upgrading”?

It’s to do with those “precious trees.”

Sorry but is there any other explanation.

And will continue to do so till the road is upgraded.

Having said that, when are people going to take responsibility for their own actions and drive to the conditions.

Sorry to the family of the deceased however I fear they will not be the last.

Stupid driving in the early hours on Kuringa Drive has been happening for as long as I can remember.
