1. Police investigate fire at Gold Creek:

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire at Gold Creek High School in Nicholls.

Police were called to the location around 11.30am today (Tuesday 7 September) in response to a report of a fire starting in the boy’s toilet block.

The fire has been extinguished by the ACT Fire Brigade.

At this stage, the extent of damage to the school is unknown. No students or staff has been injured. The school was evacuated however all students have returned to class and the school is operating as normal.

AFP Forensic Services will conduct an examination at the scene later today.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information on the cause of the fire to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or provide information via the website www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information may be provided anonymously.

2. They used to hang horse thieves:

ACT Policing responded to six reported cars thefts and significant property damage in Tuggeranong overnight (Monday September 6).

All the cars have been recovered with some suffering significant damage and requiring tows.

One of the suspected stolen cars ran over 26 wheelie bins in Clift Crescent, Richardson, causing rubbish to be scattered along the length of the street.

About 5am this morning Police conducted a traffic stop on a black Holden containing three teenagers. The driver aged 17 years and the two passengers aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of ride/drive stolen motor vehicle.

Police would urge anyone who may be able to provide further information to assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers.

What a pity the driver of the black holden didn’t do us all a favour and wrap the car round a tree and cleanse the gene pool of its occupants.
