1. Searching for Fiona Riches:

ACT Policing and SES volunteers are continuing the search for a 46-year-old diabetic woman who went missing from her Garran house about 3pm on Monday (April 6).

Police hold grave concerns for Fiona Riches welfare given her dependency on insulin, putting her at serious risk of falling into a diabetic coma if she does not receive her medication.

Police have focused the search on Garran and surrounding areas, including Hughes, Phillip, Mount Taylor and Red Hill. The Snowy Hydro Southcare helicopter has also been used to conduct aerial sweeps of the search areas using infra-red technology.

Police have begun to distribute a poster featuring a photograph and details of the missing woman to homes and businesses in the Garran area in an attempt to gain information from the public.

Anyone who sees this woman is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.

2. ‘Roids, weed and ice in Chisholm:

ACT Policing will summons a 25-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court following a search warrant at a house in Chisholm today (April 9).

The operation was conducted around 5.45am using resources from a number of areas of ACT Policing including detectives from the Territory Investigations Group (TIG) and officers from Special Response and Security (SRS), Tuggeranong Patrol and the K9 Team.

As a result a number of items were seized including a trafficable amount of a suspected amphetamine type substance, a small amount of plant material suspected to be cannabis, a quantity of suspected steroids and stolen items including laptop computers, motor vehicle parts, cameras and camera parts.

Both alleged offenders will be summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.

The woman has been found, deceased, on Oakey Hill.

I spotted the SouthCare chopper hovering over the Zoo and Tuggeranong Parkway at about 9:40am this morning (Friday) as I headed south. At the time I thought they may have been using their FLIR to look for the woman from Garran who went missing. Any ideas if the search is still going?

Looks like they found something, after a foot search this morning on Oakey Hill with the Snowy Hydro helicopter overhead there’s now a group of police in a taped off area with forensics there. The helicopter didn’t head off towards the hospital so it may have been too late.

No doubt it’ll be reported in the news later today.

I am wondering wether Fiona Riches has disappeared on purpose & taken her “spare” insulin? I don’t mean she may of committed suicide, but maybe changed her identity & moved to Newcastle or some quiet country town

This is really very worrying. That’s a long time to be missing. I wish everybody involved in the search the very best of luck in finding her. It must be a living hell for her family and friends.
