Politicians still arguing over GetUp! non-story

The world keeps turning, summer continues to follow spring, and politicians keep calling for each to resign over trivial issues instead of actually doing or saying anything useful.

I think the poor dears are just over excited.

Nothing to see here folks, just a continuation on Friday’s top non-story.

Senator Abetz said GetUp! must further explain why – if Community Campaigning Pty Ltd was never operational or active – it is still a registered company.

GetUp! may have yesterday removed Simon Sheikh as this company’s director and secretary but Community Campaigning Pty Ltd is still registered with ASIC.

Senator Abetz renewed his call for Mr Sheikh to resign or be sacked, saying this issue was just the latest in a series of issues going to Mr Sheikh’s credibility as a candidate .

In December last year Mr Sheikh swore that he was ‘not involved in that organisation (GetUp!)’ any more.
This contention has come under increasing strain.

A *lot* of Labor voters will be flirting with a Green first preference after the events of the last six weeks.

You got that right.

Mostly just in Canberra though. Joe Average who works outside the ACT and puts on a fluoro shirt every morning (you’re traditional Labor voter) is a lot less likely to consider greenies.

Because they’re all commies rah rah rah

Nearly. They vote Labor.

We are talking about canberra.

Only those who do not believe that Labour have done a bad enough job, and want to see if the Greens can screw things up further.

Yeah, Tony’ll fix everything. The man knows what Australia wants, and even when he doesn’t, he knows what’s best.

Can anyon spot the dumbface here?

Hint: If you are not making a direct reply to someone, don’t quote them. Abbot was not mentioned by me.

Here’s another hint – if you want people to spot the dumbface, you should quote the comment where they call you dumbface first.

Otherwise it’s hard to spot which dumbface is dumber.

You are an idiot!!! Tony doesn’t know what’s best – Baby Jesus tells him what’s best. 🙂

You have no sense of irony, do you? 😐

Rudd’s more religious than Tony.

This from the person constantly defending the Socialist, we know what’s best for you and do as we say, not as we do party?

Hi larious.

One good thing to happen if we get an Abbott government. GetUp will be pushed out of the tent and their stupid, leftist nonsense will be ignored.

Who claimed that? Are you reading invisible writings now?

I claimed that, dumbface, I’m not quoting anything.

Flirting perhaps, but the Greens have done themselves a lot of harm this past term. Many signs nationally are pointing to a fall in their vote for the first time. Trends at the last ACT Election certainly don’t suggest the ACT would be any different in that regard.

Yes, people are actually starting to wake up to the fact that the greens are not really all that green. Nice red colour actually.

Should really rename themselves to the Socialist, anti-progress, welfare and drugs handout party, and keep things honest.

+1. The Greens did good work raising issues in the past, but now they’re just a bunch of idiots.

I think you’ll find very few people would disagree that the party was started on principles of environmentalism and conservation. These days they are nothing more than social engineers, bent on telling everybody what’s good for them.

Labor voting for the greens in Canberra for the senate will not change anything, Lundy gets well over a quota and a majority of her extra votes flow to the greens anyway. for the greens to get in they need to convince liberal voters to vote labor or green. I still think its close to a mathematical impossibility for the conservative vote to fall below 33.3333% plus 1.

im no fan of Getup! but who cares? Abetz just really wants another far right winger in the senate with him and Cory

Anything longer and more complex than a tweet would be wasted on the people Abetz is trying to persuade against Sheikh.

So are they banging on about this because they’ve forgotten that elections are the time to sell your strengths or because they’re getting worried that Sheik might actually “get up”

I don’t know why they’re making a big deal about it. Looking at the distributions from 2010, I don’t see how Simon is a threat unless Labor decides to only run Kate Lundy (which they’re not since Chris Sant is already second on the ticket.)

I don’t see any Liberals jumping ship to him, even if there is a segment who is pissed that Zed kicked Gary out.

Sant will swallow up all of Lundy’s surplus, and the Liberal ticket will secure itself a second place. So the effort is curious.

Exactly, I don’t know why people think this will be close. The Libs will take the second seat comfortably.

We should be delighted that there’s nothing important for them to talk about. Everything’s clearly al good with the world.

Senator Abetz renewed his call for Mr Sheikh to resign or be sacked…

Ummmm, I don’t think Mr Sheikh actually has anything to resign or be sacked from?
