Hi all, I am new to Canberra and was looking to hire a skip bin.

Of the two companies I have called one has no bins available and the other said it would be delivered but I am still waiting!!

Does anyone have experience in ordering a bin and if so what comapny have you found to be best?

What’s Your opinion?

Skip Bins 2:28 pm 20 May 17

Most of the skip bin companies in Canberra general provide excellent services. The main problems that occur are usually result from mis-understandings, mis-communications and unset expectations. Dealing with Skip Bin companies right around the country we fully understand what can be troublesome and take every pre-caution to avoid these typicable problems. We send booking confirmations to every customer who books a bin with us so they have a clear description of the service they will receive. Confirmation include delivery preferences and any other requests that are made. Not surprisingly all bins cannot be delivered at 8:00am and picked up at 5:30 pm. Skip Bin companies generally work from 7:00 am in the morning until mid-afternoon except in busy periods when they work later. When there are issues that cause delay’s to service being delivered it is often that the pick ups get slipped to the following day unless a specific pick-up has been agreed. Deliveries will often be given the priority as first impressions matter. So if pick-up of delivery is more important let you skip bin company know. Expectations can sometime be difficult to accommodate as customers sometimes think operating a skip bin company is the same as a Taxi. This in not true. To find out more read more at

Thankyou for all of your feedback. Since the last of the direct negative comments about our service (May 2011), we have placed another truck on the road and installed GPS in all of our trucks. From our office we can “see” where each truck is, which greatly assists in delivering our skips on time. The extra truck is dedicated to collecting skips, minimising the number of overdue skips for collection.

We are one of the largest skip companies in Canberra and have been servicing the area for over 16 years. We pride ourselves on our customer service and wish to assure you that we are not “awful to absolutely everyone” (Spectra 26/2/2012)- you can’t survive in business if you are! If you or anyone you know have had or are having a problem with our service, please call our office on 6288 422, so that the issue can be resolved.

i have used capital waste in the past, as have mates of mine, and we each have had trouble getting them picked up! (driver sickness and wet weather were the excuses for it being a week late to getting picked up) i will be using cut price from now on, my mum has had nothig bad to say about them. the driver gave her good advice too!

I just had a bin from cut price, brilliant, will price match anyone else and beat there price quite well.

I had a bin for 7 days, although I filled it up after 3, rang them up, they came and picked it up the next, was brilliant. 4cubic meters is a big bin as well.

with our never ending renovations, we’ve used a number of companies and not had a problem with any. Of more general advice: you will almost always need a bigger skip than you ever thought you would, pack your skip to maximise space usage (flat things at the bottom etc.), for bigger skips get one that has a door that opens.

I’m pretty sure we used ACT Skip Hire. We found them excellent. The bin was delivered on time, and when we filled it within 2 hours they made a detour to pick it up again. Costs were what they were – not cheap and not expensive. He even took some extra items on his truck that could not fit in the skip – not something he had to do at all.

But can anyone answer, why is it that when you have a big clean out and take trailer loads to the tip or fill a skip that about 1 week later, it looks like you could do it all again!

I asked ACT Skip Hire to please deliver as late as possible on a Friday so the skip wouldn’t fill with other people’s stuff – their response? They said, “yes, we’ll deliver it as late in the day as we can”, and then delivered it at 7.30 am!

I realise this is thread necromancy at its worst (so, sorry about that), but I was researching skip hire for myself, and just had a good belly laugh at the two posts above this one. Not only are Capital Waste Skips apparently awful to absolutely everyone, but they are also terrible at posting fake recommendations for themselves. 7 months after the last post and suddenly two users with similarly structured handles appear within 9 minutes of each other singing their praises with almost identical wording? Here’s a challenge: come up with any possible way they could have been more obvious about it.

I have used a few skip companies and never had any problems.
But recently I hired from Capital Waste Skips and had a few skips delivered over a few weeks and I had no problems at all. They were nothing but helpful and went out of their way to have same day delivery. There was one occasion when my skip was picked up one day late (After the long weekend), although I’m pretty sure that will happen with any Skip company you go through! nobody is perfect. But yeah, I would suggest them to anyone.

I agree, I recently hired from Capital waste skips and found them to be great, My skip was delivered on time and the driver was very helpful. I would suggest them to anyone.
