The National Portrait Gallery has just updated their webpage to let us know they’ve won the Property Council of Australia’s John Holland Award for Best Public Building.

Although it should be noted that they were nominated by John Holland, and John Holland did the building.

I would go so far as to say it’s a stunning building. The spaces work so well, and there are so many beatiful design elements and high quality materials. I think it is pretty common for builders/developers to nominate their own buildings too.

Haha, aside from the apparent bias from John Holland, the NPG is a pretty cool building that definitely added to and complements the other architecture in the Parliamentary Triangle.
