The latest missive from the Chiefly procession through the middle kingdom informs us that everyone is having a lovely time in Canberra’s latest Sister City (Versailles and Nara are somewhere in there).

You’ll all be relieved to hear that our friends in Beijing (after a rather good banquet one presumes from the typos in the release) are keen on contributing to the Arboretum:

Mayor Guo expressed an interest in Canberra’s National Arboretum and the initiative to establish a ginko forest, one of China’s rare and endangers [sic] tree species.

Mr Stanhope extended a personal invitation to Mayor Guo to visit Canberra during his term as Mayor and an invitation for Beijing to be part of the Canberra’s Centenary celebrations in 2013.

Next stop Shanghai! (Really)

Dear Canberra,
Having a great time on holidays here in China wasting your money teeing up some tree plantings my great money wasting oversized garden. It’s a lovely sunny 31 degrees here in Beijing, but that also so totally doesn’t have anything to do with why I chose to travel now when Canberra is cold..

Love
Chairman Jon.
