Pratt, Smyth belatedly jump on Muslim train

Steve Pratt wants to make sure we all know that he and Brendan Smyth care about Muslims too.

So much so that they are hosting a “reception” for Canberra’s Muslim community this evening, time and location unknown.

Mr Pratt said, “The purpose of holding this reception, in these challenging times locally and abroad, is to honour the cherished position that the Australian Muslim community holds in the ACT and in the Australian landscape.”

So it definitely has nothing to do with the fact that the federal branch of his party wants to push through new terrorism laws that some, including the Federal Police Association, have said will unfairly target Muslims, OK?

Indi, Mr Pratt is, like everyone else, free to comment, and free to publish a rebuttal.

I’m still worried about those bridges…blown to buggery.

anyway, accordingly Mr Pratt has not been banned from attending mosque(s)-the key is the plural intention of Johnboy’s words, it has become evident that some ‘misunderstandings’ and grandstanding on the part of certain factions has disappeared and all is well again…

Indi, you might want to take a look at this story if you think the Pratt hasn’t been banned from mosques.

Oh well, better late than never. He’s gunna go out and buy a pair of flares next week.

I hope that train isn’t bombed

Johnboy – it maybe pertinent to call Mr Pratt’s office, your assumptions may not be entirely correct concerning a ‘ban’ from mosques.

…and we all know what happened to some of those bridges in the land of Stiv Pratt’s incarceration.

Remember that Steve’s been banned from local mosques. which with a wife as a believer could be a bit of a social dampener.

this looks like bridge building.

All I know is what was in the press release. I couldn’t be bothered finding out more today — and do you think the average citizen would?

Kerces, there may be more to this than your budding cynicism is aware. For example, did you know that Pratt is married to a muslim?

All politicians spend time tickling the toes of contrasting community interests. Nothing sinister, or new, there. Democracy sucks – and those community interests, be they muslims, 4WD-owners or whoever, enjoy being sucked.

Wouldn’t say I’m fully cynical yet colsim, I’m too young for that. But possibly well on my way…

Nothing at all Kerces – gosh you’re cynical. The Pratt has loved Muslims ever since he was detained as a spy in the 90’s.

I wonder if the muslim leaders are enjoying all of this free food…it would surely be more interesting than the generic drivvle the politicians say to them.
