Hello everyone, We’ve just arrived in Canberra and are settling down with our young family in Fraser. We are contemplating sending our child to the local state primary school when the time comes however as we do not know anyone in the area we lack a little insight – any recommendations for Fraser Primary or other schools in the area would be appreciated. Thanks.

I went there some years ago and the contingent from Charnwood used to liven things up. They used to hurl chairs at the teachers on a regular basis. I still see some of my classmates names (Matthew Millard for example) in the crime reports

One word about Fraser Primary. Superb. Fantastic school with amazing teachers, principal and deputy principal (Mrs Magoo)! We moved from a local Catholic school and our children have flourished, which makes for one very happy family. The teachers are young and vibrant and have a real rapport with their pupils. After School Care is also superb – we have to drag them out ! We have been welcomed with open arms and cannot speak highly enough of the school. Best thing we ever did was moving our children there. The school fete is coming up in March so go along and take a look.

Welcome to Fraser!

My mini me goes to Fraser Primary. It is a wonderful school with a great community. The Principal is an amazing woman, she seems to remember everyone’s names, their stories etc. All the teachers I have come into contact with have been great; there seems to be a culture of understanding a child’s learning needs, and teaching to that, as opposed to the good “all kids learn the same”.

From my personal experience, I highly recommend it. However, I would suggest that you go down to the school and meet the Principal and teaching staff and get a feel for yourself. I am sure they would be more than happy to accommodate you.

Again, welcome to the suburb.

Well the lovely Mrs Magoo (don’t think she’s ever been called that before… oh well), is the Deputy Principal at Fraser Primary School and as such I think I can vouch for it as a quality school. I also know several families whose kids go there and they are very happy.

You won’t have any issues with primary schools in Canberra, they are all pretty much the same in terms of demographics, parents who care about their kids education.
I would look for a school that fits your child.
