Prime threat to RiotACT?

It looks like Prime TV wants to muscle in and take some of RiotACT’s action with a rival website targetting Canberra (among other places).

Due to defamation laws I can’t see Prime allowing debate or comment that is as, ahem, “free-spirited” as RiotACT.

Perhaps they’ll get multiple award-winning ACT blogger Samuel Gordon Stewart or Johnboy to run the show?

Perhaps they can make money out of such a website by splattering it with ad’s. Who could give a toss. They should be delivering local content on TV ! But they DON’T HAVE TO ! Thanks to John Howard and the Capital City of Sydney of Australia of of of …….

I have actually been developing a new site based on RiotACT for three months, for launch next January. It will feature a forum (like RiotACT), plus “Public Meetings” (online real time chat once a week that other sites offer quite successfully), image galleries, competitions, ACTtube and news. All with a refined style and super fast performance. Should give iPrime a run for it’s money too.

Ah Keating, enough said. Thanks Bonfire.

Ch7 apparently maybe the most watched station but not by me. If they didn’t have the V8, AFL or Olympics and the Domestic Test Rugby, I would never ever watch it. Full of over-hyped crpa Americanised garbage. Yeah I know the other two commercial networks aren’t much better.

“Does anyone know why Prime/Ch7 are unable to use their digital channels so that multiple events such as V8’s and the AFL can be played live simultaneously? Are they just lazy/tight or is there are resonable explanation? Seems like a waste to me.”

thank the late kerry packer and his mate paul keating. they deal they did has harmed the rollout of digital tv in this country. dont blame the regulator, blame the politicians.

ct used to have a very robust comments area – although it used to be dominated by a few idiots.

it was changed last year – not even sure if it exists anymore.

SBS and ABC may as well be the only 2 channels in my house. I think they get these stats from monitoring old peoples homes.

Agreed Hingo – Channel 7 screwed up V8 broadcasts before due to the almight god of VFL, and I too cannot believe that the V8 promoters dumped on everything that Channel 10 did to build up not just V8s but motor racing in general.

And for the record, channel 7 would be my least watched network, but comments such as”

“Ch 7 are and always have been followers in the TV industry. Even their self-promoting TV commercials look they were produced on a hobo’s budget”

still make me laugh.

And yet Channel 7 are the highest rating TV station in the country, so all your comments about them being the crappest station are somewhat irrelevant.

You are right MrMagoo. I’ll look forward to watching the delayed telecast of the V8’s at 3:00am on a Monday morning. How V8 Supercars Australia ever thought that Ch 7 would be better than Ch 10 is beyond me. When the V8’s were originally on Ch 7, nobody gave a crap. Ten did a lot to revive the coverage. Its time Channel 7 put their other digital channels to good use.

Prime TV yeah right, by name only. Wiat til next year when they try to juggle the AFL, V8s and the Olympics. Their website would melt down with all the crap they will cop from very disgruntled viewers if the reaction to last Friday nights appauling treatment of AFL and their ongoing V8 debalce is anything to go by.

Some of the Prime article sounds like suggestions we made for RA development last week…

I knew it!

I take it you’re just ribbing, Maelinar?

Yourguide.com.au and My Talk all have the same ideas and have functions that allow “public debate”.
I find neither works well, and on the websites of regional papers on yourguide.com.au, the public opinion pages are almost empty. No one posting comments.
MyTalk trys to do too much, but nothing well.
Take a bit to match the focus and free spirit of RiotACT.

I thought it interesting that they’re going to attempt to use the free content provided by the public to fill some of their mandatory local content stuff on TV.

It’ll be on an hour delay

Prime sounds like a type of condom.

Geez, it hurts me to say this, but here goes: I agree with Thumper …

hingo_VRCalaisV62:01 pm 25 Sep 07

Who is Prime? Oh, you mean the TV station that buys every other channel’s shows because their own programs suck balls.

Ch 7 are and always have been followers in the TV industry. Even their self-promoting TV commercials look they were produced on a hobo’s budget.

What they can do is throw a great weight of feature development and active journalists behind their site. Something RiotACT can’t do as a free enterprise.

Not that JB didn’t try.
