Prime TV keeps losing it sound on all HD channels, no other channels suffers this?

It is not our receiver, or surround sound system, we have isolated everything, this loss of sound only occurs on Prime.

All signals are strong for the Prime channels, do you know why this would be isolated to Prime only?

We have virtually had to give up watching Prime live in Canberra.

Do any other viewers have this problem?

Now that you mention it, my old LG PVR used to frequently lose sound on PrimeHD for days at a time. Never had the problem with any other channel.

Uhh..it’s Prime. I’d call not being able to watch it a blessing, not a problem.

I had no idea it was Prime. What’s this “7Mate” stuff?

Seeing the same behaviour. On a 1yo LG Plasma.

Is your TV an LG model?. This is a common problem with the LG.
You need a software update, if you ring LG they will talk you through it.

I have that problem with 7Mate (who the *&^% thought of that name). It’s generally unwatchable because no sound.

All channels, digital and analogue, have been unreliable for the last year or two. For many years, you would set up your TV and aerial, and that would be it. Now we seem to have to constantly readjust, and sometimes just lose all transmission from time to time. I assume it has something to do with the digital changeover

Are there any quality standards that TV channels have to meet for transmission?

May have a lot to do with the fact that the digital stations transmit at a much lower level meaning your antenna needs to be properly alligned. The analogue stations were much higher which in turn meant any low gain due to being off by a small amount didn’t make too much difference.

Our big tv struggles sometimes with Prime signal (although the small telly is fine). No other channels, just Prime ones.

Can’t say I’ve had that problem. FWIW my receiver is a TiVo.

It sounds like there’s something “odd enough” in the audio stream that your receiver doesn’t like. Whether or not this is because Prime or your receiver manufacturer skirt the standards or not, I can’t say.

A further test might be to chage off Prime, then back or to power-cycle the receiver when you lose sound and see if audio returns (however briefly).

What brand of receiver do you have?

The old Prime HD channel (I think it’s 7Mate now) would semi-regularly produce very loud “pops” through the speakers. I don’t know what caused it, but one spike was bad enough that it actually caused my receiver to spontaneously switch itself off. Not surprisingly, that channel is now disabled.

Prime chose the name because they thought it meant top grade. It’s more like priming a pump where you have to fill it with water before it will work but when you turn it on it never works.

Yep it’s not just you. Prime is just rubbish
