The Canberra Times brings word that Prime are cutting back their commercial production capacity.

It means about half the folk working at their Watson facility, 12 of them, are now looking for work.

On the other hand whoemever is picking up the now outsourced work will probably be hiring.

Sorry to hear it mediaman, well with the majority of lower paid staff gone they’ll find themselves in a bit of a pickle when they have to make some cuts next time…

Fingers crossed.

Having worked at Prime I can tell you what a crappy place it is to work. Full of managers who earn 100 to 200k and then the staff who work hard and earn peanuts and don’t get any respect. The people who have been let go will move on to better things cos they won’t be working there anymore.

I have never before or since worked at such a depressing place.

Let’s hope the more skilled of them are able to pick up work from the outsourced side of things and continue on with their careers.

I feel very bad for these people.

Unless you’re working in a metro market it’s a crap and extremely low paying industry to be a part of.

And based on past experience, I’m sure the ####s in management were assuring people that their jobs were safe right up until they stuck the knife in 😛

Most of the work is going to sydney to be done by channel seven remotely

And there are acutally about 20 people fired.

Looks like things are going to be very top-heavy over there now…

Be interesting to see what happens the next time the hatchet swings…
