bogong moths?

I’ve been wanting to have a closer look at this since I first saw it a few months ago.

I understand it’s representative of Bogong Moths in flight, but I call it “Finding Nemo”.

We were driving past the other day – my 3 year old said “Nice bogan moths!” – seems appropriate for the K-bar

I saw it the other day and couldn’t really work it out. But knowing now what it’s supposed to represent, I quite like it.

I’ve never really understood this kinda obsession with representation. I appreciate that having a name on a piece of art might give people a different way to look at or interpret it, but isn’t ‘exploding goldfish’ or ‘awesome colourful organic mechano’ just as good a way to view it (if not better, if it’s coming from the imagination of the viewer)?

Always ran into that sorta thing in the art galleries, with people staring at abstract art and complaining that ‘it doesn’t look like anything’. If it’s beautiful (or grotesque, or whatever), isn’t that enough? Personally, I find paintings of bowls of fruit or old people in hats terribly boring. Give me Blue Poles any day.

I had to take a second look at the airport art to which you refer after my 6 year old asked why she wasn’t wearing any clothes. Indeed she has breasts and a vagina for all to see.

In fact her name is Perception & Reality.

Umm, you may want to reread your comment as it doesn’t read to well at the moment.

I don’t mind the artwork but hate where they’ve put it. It’s so misplaced that it actually looks like a piece of machinery. It’s a messy eyesore and I can’t wait till the digging is done.

I really like this one. Certainly brightens a rather dull piece of road.

It’s ‘Exploding Goldfish’ and no-one will convince me otherwise.

That’s a cool one. Put a big smile on my face when I saw it on the weekend.

I like it, a lot

Orange things with eyes. Better than the owl. Best street art I’ve seen lately seems to have appeared at Snowtown. There’s a really impressive statue of a male figure near where everyone rumbles into the terminal dragging their wheelie bags, and a new thing near the overpass that seems to be, I dunno, droplets? It’s not bad though. I wonder if Mr Snow would be interested in a swap?

Ahhh, Bogong Moths in flight. I pass it every day and had no idea. We call it “Teppanyaki”, suggested on a post on here when it was erected and it seems most appropriate.

I don’t think many would give a damn what you call it.
