lswchp, chances are if this person was willing to take on an armed person, chances are they had some sort of martial arts or fighting skills behind them. Defence against weapons is something that is taught by certain martial arts schools.

I disagree. The ratio of idiots to martial arts experts is heavily skewed in favour of the former. Chances are it was some guy who had seen too many movies and was lucky enough to get away unharmed.

Regardless, it’s extremely satisying when a villan happens on a poorly chosen target and gets what’s coming to them.

It’s so nice to read about stabby scum being put in their rightful place in society; bottom feeder.

It amazes me how much you all know about this incident. You should write for television (that is not a complement)

I think that the words “compliment” and “complement” should be banished from the English language because so many illiterates get them wrong.

Or just change the spelling to ‘compliement’…

A more appropriate word for RA would be “complyment”

The forum police have spoken. Only comment on topics when you know all the details.

Ummm, in essence I wrote that I didn’t know the details of the incident, but if I was attacked by someone with a knife I’d run away rather than fighting the attacker.

I’ve tried to relate what I wrote to hour subsequent comment, but unfortunately, it’s not working.

Thankyou.

I’d guess the offender realised they had picked the wrong guy and ran away very quickly. they where most likely looking for easy money, and when they got resistance they showed what sort of gutless wonder they really were.

I’m just waiting for the victim to be charged with assault! Hahahaha! I wouldn’t be surprised….

Without further details, it’s hard to know whether this was an act of extraordinary courage, or extraordinary stupidity. Perhaps a bit of both.

Most people have never experienced actual violence, so they base their ideas and actions upon what they see in the movies. But in real life, a hurried slash or stab in the middle of a punchup can result in a severed artery which will cause you to bleed out and die in a couple of minutes.

If someone came at me with a knife I’d be breaking world records running in the other direction.

“Possess Offensive Weapon”????

How about attempted armed robbery and threatening with a deadly weapon?

This needs more than a punch in the face.

They obviously did not go with aggravated robbery as it was not a robbery, “An altercation between the two took place with the alleged offender producing a knife. The victim defended himself and punched the alleged offender in the face.” No where there does it say the offender demanded anything off the victim, just they started fighting and the offender pulled a knife.

Threatening with a deadly weapon? Needs to be a real offence before you can charge someone with it.

The closest that the Criminal Code 2002, or the Crimes Act 1900 allows is Possess Offensive Weapon and Act Endangering Life.

+1 for the punch in the face. Chalk one up for the good guys.
