Queanbeyan rejoins the modern era.

Urban Services have released this statement explaining that refugees from Queanbeyan wil be able travel to Canberra slightly quickly after the wonderful ACT Government has managed to pull off a Rosetta Stone – esque discovery and decypher the drum beats and grunts that co-ordinate the lights over the NSW border.

Apparently the drama started when a new set of lights was placed 750 metres apart from it interstate cousin, which led to some confusion from the residents of Oaks Flat who thought that New Years Eve had come early and they started harrassing their Centrelink Office for the back pay that they thought they justly deserved.

Snaps for GuruJ.

Roundabouts are only life-threatening if a majority of drivers refuse to slow down and LOOK what is going on around them when they enter a roundabout.

They’re called eyes, people. Use them.

Perhaps they prefer to avoid accidents?

I can never understand why Canberra-bashers would rather wait at traffic lights than drive through a roundabout

rn-n, you are most welcome to visit Queanbeyan and watch the traffic lights. Please bring a chair or banana lounge.

P S They look better at night.

I was at the Royal for a quiet beer after visiting Bungendore for the day actually.

Cooma doesn’t even have any trafic lights to coordinate. They still believe in The Roundabout.

I can comprehend (just) the traffic lights part but you lose me with your Oaks Flat, New Years Eve, Centrelink blather.

The last I heard was that Oaks Flat was still down near Wollongong somewhere.

Oaks Estate is near Queanbeyan and is an integral part of the ACT. It has older homes and a fair proportion of pensioners and benefit recipients. Is that supposed to make it an object of ridicule?

If you want to sneer at us Queanbeyan ‘refugees’, please pop into the Royal Hotel this Friday night and make your self known.

It would be a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
