The baton relay for the Commonwealth Games is schedule to pass through Canberra this weekend. Chief Minister Jon Stanhope will officially welcome the Queen’s Baton to the city in Garema Place on Saturday afternoon.

Entertainment begins at 4.30 and the baton, carried by Robert De Castella (who I hear now runs a gluten-free bakery in the south somewhere), will arrive an hour later.

One wonders if it wouldn’t make more sense to have this kind of event at the show, where there is likely to be a lot more people.

I heard about that bakery, I’ll have to check it out.

Deek’s bakery is at Pearce shops.
