A week or so ago, I posted about an event that I had heard was set to go ahead in Braidwood NSW – Q.U.I.L.T (Queers United In Little Towns) www.quiltevent.wordpress.com

The post stirred up a little scepticism, however after talking to someone at the Braidwood Visitor Information Centre today, I was informed that the event is set to go ahead on Saturday 28th of November, not this weekend as I originally posted after hearing about it; word of mouth!

It’s being touted as an event that brings a litle bit of Mardis Gras to a spring day in a small country town. The organisers stress that it’s NOT a speciffically gay and lesbian event but one that’s aimed at bringing together queers of all persuasions in a celebration of alternative lifestyle, behaviour and dress!!

They have a great little website that has good links to other things going on in Braidwood. www.quiltevent.wordpress.com

Kinda sad that the ‘queers’ couldn’t pick their own day, but had to interfere with a bunch of little old ladies in a small country town. Kudos.

Wish I was a fly on the wall lol

Well bugger me sideways with an arm full of deck chairs!

(I’m still not convinced…) Butt this is funny:

“Please be responsible – There is an alternative event peacefully co-existing with Q.U.I.L.T. This event is organised by Anglican quilting ladies who make actual quilts. Their main event is “The Hanging of The Quilts.” We don’t want the “auto-erotic” contingent anywhere near that!!!!”

What? Two quilt events in Braidwood on the same day? Should be a hoot.

There is also an event featuring patchwork quilts on that same day in Braidwood
