Question re roof repair in Canberra?

helen1967 9 September 2013 10

I need to have some work done on my roof.  I checked all comments on RiotACT about various roof and gutter businesses in Canberra but none are recent.

Any recent experiences with any such businesses?  Thank you very much in advance for any recent feedback I can get.

I realise it’s 3 years late on this discussion, but after the storm last night my ceiling was haemorrhaging at the light fittings. Uh Oh, cracked tiles from the hail I thought, Googled “roof repairs Canberra” and ended up here. All Top Roofing sounded positive so I called the mobile number at 7:30am on Australia Day. The guy was still on holidays, but he talked me through the problem, sent me up to look for cracked tiles (none) and concluded it was hail build-up in the” valleys” which backed water up under the tiles. Great guy, problem solved, no charge. I haven’t met him but I recommend him.

Wittgenstein, we had the same situation as you. We were pressured into signing a contract and it sounds like the same company. They finished the repair job but about a week later I noticed that a gutter was leaking!!! That company hadn’t even noticed. There was no way I was going to deal with them again so then I went to All Top Roofing. They were so easy to deal with and did not pressure us into signing anything on the spot.

I did not know of All Top Roofing but after they did some work on my roof, I could not be more positive about them. Good traders seem to be an endangered species. Indeed, I called upon All Top Roofing based on RiotACT reviews and after having had a very unpleasant experience with a roof and gutter business that advertises heavily in the ACT. Just for your info, if in the course of getting a quote onsite a business asks you to sign a piece of paper that lists the work and that hides very well that the paper is a contract, JUST DO NOT SIGN!! It is basic common sense, but to my own amazement, I was caught by some sweet talking and lost quite a few dollars on the way.

All Top Roofing were very good and I got a set of free steak knives that can cut a shoe in half with ease.

All Top are a current client of RiotACT’s but have no commercial interest in this particular discussion. If in doubt, look for ‘advertising feature’ as one of the article tags.

I’ve had Chris Kugler Roofing do work at 2 properties (tile relpacement, fixing a leak and clearing/fixing guttering) and have been very happy with them.

Block of units with a continuous carport, 1 units section had leaked for years with multiple attempts to fix it.
Kane fixed our roof and replaced the entire carport. He was quick to notice that the down pipes from the roof onto the carport had been installed upside down, causing problems. Noone else had ever spotted that! Great work. Expect to wait.

I too used Kane from All Top Roofing, and they re-roofed a ‘dodgy’ builders effort on a back pergola and it now doesn’t leak! In addition to this they repaired two separate leak issues on the roof but adding flashing on the side of the roof and around the air conditioning unit.

I was very happy with the quality and knowledge of the employees from the quote stage right through to the end completed works. The only issue I found, was due to this service they are quite busy so may not be able to get to you straight away- but worth the wait.

We use Kane at All Top Roofing for all our roof work when we’re doing complex insulation installs in homes with flat metal roofs and tiles that are difficult to access, they actually just finished another one for us this weekend. We also get great testimonials about their work from other clients we refer them to. Well worth contacting.
