Radio station 2CC are not making the most auspicious of starts to what appears their newest venture into using Twitter.

They have just started to Tweet in earnest as of today.

Some of their classics so far are:

2CC: Pete wants to sell his farts. They are priceless. Call 6969 FART
2CC: Ting Tong wants to sell ping pong balls. Dickson. 6969 6969
2CC: Bruce has pre-package bags of hooch. Good stuff. Queabeyan. Phone 0000 0000
2CC: Jan (49) wants to swap her husband for a newer model. 6242 1053

It appears that they are going to use Twitter for their weekend Tradies Post show.

You gotta love it when you get enthusiastic amateurs pumping out test material in to the live interwebs.

[ED – Since it came across my radar two years ago I have been convinced that twitter is the most worthless form of human communication ever created, and I blog]

Ha! That’s assuming I would ever say anything interesting. 😉

Oh I follow people too, it’s just that focusing on that can mean others miss some of the other benefits of twitter.

Maybe I should pay closer attention to your twitter posts in the future though willozap?

I know it was only on here last week, but:

“…So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have any white onions, because of the war; the only thing you can get was those big yellow ones.”

As far as Kaydo’s post, I really think it is missing the point to follow regular mainstream media on twitter (ABC news etc). Follow people – they’re a hell of a lot more interesting, and a hell of a lot more likely to take you to interesting places.

I also enjoy Facebook more than Twitter but I can see how both have their place. Twitter is better for broad dissemination of information, such as in the bushfires I think.

Facebook has more content and is more fun, but it’s not as responsive as Twitter.

Some one said that Twitter is the thing that’ll replace Facebook. Pig’s arse it will! Facebook is actually rather useful. People I’ve lost contact with all over the world are suddenly back in contact, due to FB. The various silly activities on it are annoying, but the size of it, ease of use and number of people on it, of all ages, is great.

Oh I don’t know JB … a lot of folks initially thought the same thing about Facebook … and look how that has taken off!

For the technologically challenged – Twitter explained:

Hey, I like the ABC news one!

It’s 2CC here that’s useless, not twitter.

It’s still an emerging platform, but here’s some useful local feeds (I’m not one of them):

http://twitter.com/abcnewsCanberra
http://twitter.com/CanberraTraffic

You can probably find more by searching for Canberra stuff here; http://nearbytweets.com/

A very sensible and succinct assessment of Twittering there, JohnBoy.
