The Raiders hope to spread the word about saving energy and raise awareness about climate change.
Earth Hour, which falls during the Round 3 match, aims to reduce carbon emissions around the world by persuading households and organisations to switch their lights off for one hour at 8pm.
While the Raiders won’t be playing in the dark, the team’s chief executive, Don Furner, said the stadium would be powered by $15,000 worth of green energy.
“We’re encouraging people to come out there, watch us play the Dragons and save electricity in their own houses,” he said.
In addition Furner added, “Most of our players are all young guys and conscious of environmental issues, so we’re happy to support it.”
