Raiders for Earth Hour!

By Thumper - 27 March 2008 5

The Raiders hope to spread the word about saving energy and raise awareness about climate change.

Earth Hour, which falls during the Round 3 match, aims to reduce carbon emissions around the world by persuading households and organisations to switch their lights off for one hour at 8pm.

While the Raiders won’t be playing in the dark, the team’s chief executive, Don Furner, said the stadium would be powered by $15,000 worth of green energy.

“We’re encouraging people to come out there, watch us play the Dragons and save electricity in their own houses,” he said.
In addition Furner added, “Most of our players are all young guys and conscious of environmental issues, so we’re happy to support it.”

No correspondence on climate change will be entered into as anyone that takes offence obviously has no sense of irony, let alone humour 😉

Climate change has jumped the shark (more than partly due to token stunts like this and has been fests like Live Earth)

Perhaps all those young players can hop on the cycle and power their way through electricity generation to feed bruce stadium. Other than then carbon they emit huffing and puffing, they’d be close to carbon neutral.

“Most of our players are all young guys and conscious of environmental issues….”

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

They’re more concerned about where to go and hammer the piss and whether they’ll get a leg over!

Those green electrons are clever though – knowing when to divert to Bruce stadium.
