The SMH tells the pathetic tale of a stunning outright belting of the Canberra Raiders who couldn’t trouble the scorer while Wests Tigers piled on a whopping 40 points.

They go on to report that speculation about the coaching has finally started.

(We hear there’s an announcement expected at 2pm today)

Coach for Life David Furner will stand down the same day as Kim Jong Un..

This just in:

“Raiders Chairman John McIntyre –
Statement to Members

The Canberra Raiders will use a week long camp on the Central Coast this week to prepare for their round 14 match against the Knights in Newcastle.

The camp is aimed at bringing the playing group together and working on improving their current position.

Raiders Chairman John McIntyre urged members to stick by the club and the club was just as disappointed with the results as the members are.

“We aren’t happy with the position we’re in at the moment, but I know the coaching staff and playing group are 100 per cent committed to turning things around on the field,” Mr McIntyre said. “This camp is in place for the group to come together and determine why they’re not getting these results and the board and I support the initiative.”

McIntyre also confirmed that rumours and speculation regarding the Head Coach were just that and said David Furner would remain the Coach of the club.

“There has been no board meeting scheduled regarding David Furner’s position and he remains the Head Coach of the Canberra Raiders.”

Membership is belonging.
What’s your number?”

And so now the woeful performance, by all concerned, is rewarded with a week on the Central coast.
This conveniently removes Furner and co. from the well deserved local anger.
I hope the board are giving themselves a big pat on the back for such fabulous stewardship, NOT !

The saddest summary of the Raiders contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have

I heard him this morning. For a fraction of a second I thought he was going to be objective but then his cheer squad tendancies came to the fore.

This was a pretty depressing affair. Getting drenched didn’t help matters.

Oh well, there’s always next year…

Anyone who braved the weather to attend the game should have been given a full refund of their ticket, paid for out of the player’s pockets. You can’t solely blame the coach for such a diabolical performance.
