As many of you would already know, the not-so-mighty-at-the-moment Raiders went down in their NRL season opener against the Knights on Saturday.
In a display you would typically associate with youth, nerves and inexperience, the Green Machine looked sloppy and had a poor completion rate. The Raiders scored the first try but from there it was more or less all Newcastle. A late rally gave them a hope, but yet again they couldn’t convert.
It is of course only the first round, and we can certainly expect better performances from the boys ahead, but coming up against the Knights (who are just as out of sorts as the Raiders) the side would have been hoping for a much better start to the season.
Did anyone make the trip to Energy Australia Stadium for this one?
I’ll be at CUA Stadium next week to watch Canberra take on Matt Elliott’s Panthers. Another away game, but again: one the Raiders could quite rightly expect to win.
