League Unlimited are cheering up our days with word that the Canberra Raiders have absolutely thumped the NZ Warriors by 38-12.

It would have been a very pleasant afternoon in the Stadium In Bruce.

Yes it was a great afternoon…shame only 8,000 people attended.

What I don’t get is how with 5 officials (including the video ref)they could miss a blatant forward pass by the Warriors which resulted in a try. I’m a junior soccer ref and get bollocked when I miss an offside with only club linesmen (who usually don’t know the laws) to help me.

Yep, brilliant stuff.

For mine, the biggest difference was in the 25 offloads the team made today. After the first game of the season against Wests Tigers, Dave Furner told the team to stop the second-phase play and focus on one-off running and we have looked much the poorer for it since, IMO. Until today.

Thom Leroyd-Lahrs was named MOTM but I thought Jared Croker was just as good, if not better. That hit he put on Steve Price was brave for an 18-year old and looked awesome. Herbert, Milne, Thurling were also excellent.

They played like they did last year and it paid off. Let’s hope they keep it going.

Yep, definitely the warmest afternoon I’ve had out there and my boy’s very first footy game which I’m glad to report he loved. Pretty good for a 3yo to sit through 80 minutes of footy especially when our team wasn’t playing.
For anyone who was in earshot, it was my son who was shouting go the Tigers!

It definitely was a very pleasant afternoon in the Stadium in Bruce.

Watching a game (any game or sport) live is far better than watching it on the idiot box.
