The ABC brings word of the Raiders’ first win of the season, a satisfying 23-18 victory over Neil Henry’s new team, the North Queensland Cowboys, at Canberra Stadium.

12,193 fans turned out to see the Raiders turn it on. They went ahead in the first half with tries to Nigel Plum, Jared Croker, Adrian Purtell and Joe Picker, and were never bested (despite the Cowboys increasing the pressure in the second half and running in three tries).

Debutante Josh Dugan played a great game at halfback, and fellow Toyota Cup recruits Croker and Justin Carney also put in well.

Something also worth mentioning is that, before kick-off, Greg Robson read out a message of condolence from the Raiders club and players to the family of ACT Brumby Shawn Mackay, and to the Brumbies, which received applause from the crowd. Good to see.

“Debutante Josh Dugan played a great game at halfback”

Should read “fullback”, Marc Herbert played halfback.

Both stars of the future and part of the Raiders push for the finals again this year.

Go Raiders! Was a top night and a top win. Lets hope the boys can keep this up.
