Raiders tipped for the spoon again?

The Canberra Times reports that Centrebet has the Raiders as the least fancied team to win next year’s premiership.

Apparently in the sub-editor and Kyle Mackey-Laws’ minds this translated to wooden spoon favouritism.

What it does mean is the Raiders are un-fancied and thus likely to remain in a free to air TV black hole.

I know, it seems irrational. But I see/hear people wanting Canberra to be a bigger place, to attract bigger and more impressive events. We HAVE a team in what is considered by most observers of the sport to be the top rugby league competition in the world, but many people don’t care, and some denigrate it. Right or wrong, it shits me.

Huh Spitfire3? It actually annoys you that people don’t care about our NRL team? Very strange.

Put your money on the Storm this weekend people….

“I care little for sport but would like them to change their name to “The Owls”. (33%, 14 Votes)”

Many people on this site don’t care about our NRL team, and there’s not much I can do about that, but fcuk it shits me.

Top 8 for sure – easy money to be made so go for it if you can get a price on the top 8.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner said. “We are used to it and it will help motivate us.

Raiders captain Alan Tongue said ”It’s the usual spiel we get each year, but it’s not something we use to motivate ourselves.”

Hmmmm Don and Alan on different wavelengths?

Could be the right time to put a couple of bob on the Raiders making the 8 next year, if betting is open.

Suits me just fine. I’d rather watch it live on pay tv.
