Rain, heavy rain!

Quite the doozy of a storm just blew through and the rain hasn’t let up, here’s a look at the stormwater just near the Turner bowling club:

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of severe storms throughout the day.

The radar loop, which can be quite exciting on days like today, is worth checking out.

UPDATED: Thanks to Thumper for the heads-up, The SMH reports that the power at Parliament House took a hit during the storms, so much for the back-up power.

Being a smartarse, I asked the missus if she wanted the wet spot. I got the couch.

I was driving around the airport when the squall struck. Sheets of rain and little bits of trees blowing everywhere. For all that, we didn’t get very large totals (8mm for Canberra). And it diminished as you move east from the ACT. I’m hoping we get a bit more tonight although the radar shows it splitting west of us so it’ll miss us. Fingers crossed.

Here at the ANU the market stalls got hammered. I felt sorry for them, but it was funny to watch.

was pretty damn awesome out here at the Airport. couldn’t see across the road.
wouldn’t be surprised if half my development has sunk further into the ground. Dodgy Liangis building.

There is a hail warning now apparently. But I think the storm has gone.

5.5mm at woden

just at work 🙂 we’re used to it… surprised the roof’s not leaking again…

1.4mm in Tuggeranong hardly settled the dust the wind blew around

Now if we can just keep this up for a couple of months, we’ll be sitting pretty…

I think we lost a few tiles again…

It’s been a long time since I saw something like that in Tuggers – the wind was blowing trees near horizontal but not too much rain sadly.

Beattie must have given the wrong directions in his prayerfest for rain

As long as it clears up for Saturday, I don’t mind.

I wanna see some more of those red or black spots on the radar.

I just hope it keeps going for a while

the residents of the flood-prone inner north thankyou from their dilapidated, yet strangely massively expensive domiciles, oh mighty johnboy, for without your valiant efforts, doubtless all would have perished. http://the-riotact.com/?p=3451
