ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident in Banks earlier today (Saturday, April 13), in which a takeaway shop was rammed by a vehicle and entry gained to the premises.

Police were called to the takeaway shop in Pockett Avenue around 5.30am.

Witness reports described two offenders running from the damaged premises and getting in a car, which then drove quickly away. The vehicle was described as a small four-door hatchback, possibly dark green or blue in colour.

No cash was left in the premises overnight, and any stolen property is yet to be determined.

Police searched the area and around 20 minutes later a small car was reported on fire at the Point Hut Crossing carpark. Police attended, but are yet to determine whether this vehicle is linked to the earlier offence.

Police are urging any witnesses may have seen or heard any suspicious behaviour in the Banks area at the time of the incident, or who may be able to provide any other information which can assist the investigation, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report via the website at act.crimestoppers.com.au.

They were after the hairdressers next door and the GHD hair straighteners…but missed! Not very experienced at reversing a car!

No doubt about ’em they’re a cut above the rest…

Given the history of that particular hairdressers, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

Well, last I checked, they make huge pizzas. That could be a motive?

My vote is they were looking to hit a small local supermarket, but got there to find it impossible to hit the shop front with a vehicle….

They were in it for the dough?

Odd, had no idea crims would go to such lengths for this kind of target. Guess we’d best be on the look out for nefarious folks trying to offload a bain-marie and some tubs of MSG from the back of a van.

I guess they didn’t take much away from that…

Be on the lookout for hot dim sims.

Why the hell would they ram-raid a takeaway shop which they surely must’ve suspected had very little to no cash on the premises?
