ACT Greens MLA, Dr Deb Foskey, claims that raw sewage is making its way into Lake Tuggeranong. According to Dr Foskey, the sewage is entering the stormwater system some six kilometres from the lake, in the suburb of Chisholm.
She states that ACTEW have been advised of the problem but have failed to provide a solution. Local eyewitness reports indicate that extensive work was performed near the site in November & December 2006, including the installation of new pipework.
Dr Foskey rather curiously claims that “ACTEW may be dealing with the symptoms rather than the cause of the problem”. Perhaps toilet restrictions are the answer?
