Franchise Operations Manager of Peter Blackshaw Real Estate, Narelle Casey, said it was gratifying for the firm to be a finalist across a number of categories.

“To be nominated as a finalist for so many categories is a testament to the hard work and commitment of every team member across our network. These awards are a celebration of everything we have achieved over the past year, as a group and as individuals,” she said.

“We are always looking to grow and develop our people and practices with the aim of improving the experience for our clients. As a group, we strive to achieve excellence within the industry so to be recognised by our industry body for our work is very exciting.”

She made special reference to the Community Service award category.

“We would not be where we are today if it weren’t for the people of Canberra. In everything we do, we want to show how grateful we are to our community,” she said.

“From our charitable giving program through to individual team members who go beyond to help others, to assisting at school fetes, sporting clubs and local organisations and more – community involvement has always been a focus of the brand. To be a finalist for this award is a real reflection of our company culture and values.”

McIntyre Property is a finalist in six categories, with Col McIntyre vying for the Residential Salesperson of the Year Award.

Mr McIntyre, who is up for a third gong, said winning a REIACT award fitted well with the industry’s rapidly developing professionalism.

“What I like about them is that they are real and state-specific – that makes them credible,” he said.

This credibility meant an award could also be actively used to promote an agency.

Mr McIntyre, who has been in the game for more than 20 years, said the key to success was putting people first.

“At the end of the day it’s all about people – after all, it’s their homes or potential homes you are selling. So people should come first and the property second,” he said.
