The Canberra Times has the pleasing news that the murderous Rebecca Massey is to be evicted from her Ngunnawal guvvie after appealing from prison that such action was in breach of her human rights:

Convicted killer Rebecca Anne Massey has been evicted from her northside public housing home, despite arguing the expulsion was a breach of her human rights.

A tribunal terminated the tenancy agreement and gave Massey until last Monday to vacate the premises.

Massey is serving a 16-year jail term, with a non-parole period of 10 years, for the murder of Elizabeth Booshand in July 2008.

Only a 16 year sentence? They should have thrown away the key.

Unless she stabs someone else in there she’ll be out in 10..

Shows she’s good at using the system, I guess. And shameless.

This is quite complicated – you would think there’d be a standard procedure for swiftly moving people on if they’re convicted of such a crime, regardless of their human rights and all. I’m no lawyer but I’m guessing best case scenario (for her) is still several years in jail – so just how long is a house supposed to sit there???

And we’re all paying for these appeals!
🙁

Convicted murdered arguing over not being given human rights? #onlyincanberra

Wasn’t convicted by a jury or her peers… Why does the justice system take so long when she has already been found guilty?

Sanity beckons. Surely the judiciary system needs to take some accountability.

Ummm…huh?

Well I hope she enjoys her lovely flat in gowrie court or Stuart flats when she eventually gets out lol

Over the decades i’ve had the displeasure of encountering the quality humans from those and numerous other high density gummint mistakes including the ones in Red Hill and no question she’ll fit in very nicely and be top dog in no time..

what about Elizabeth Booshland’s human rights? Oh that’s right – you killed her…..

Massey should stop giving capital punishment advocates an argument.

We have people unable to get emergency housing and how many government houses or flats are empty while the person they were allocated to is in prison? Can’t they just be allocated new housing when they get out?

..and, um, whooooo would put up their hand to be the next tenants?

will they get free home and contents insurance from the government for their bravery? no telling what the delightful prior tenant might try to have enacted at that address, taking her frustrations and angst out on the wrong victim. bags not me…

Shows she’s good at using the system, I guess. And shameless.

What fast action! It only took about 15 years to evict David Eastman.

She should have probably got Eastman for her representative. He knows how to get things done.

Speaking of, I never really did get an answer in the other thread. Does Eastman still have his flat? Is it sitting as some kind of time capsule until he returns from his life sentence?

A tent would be too good for her, mind you given the vermin that have occupied her premises it would need to be thoroughly fumigated.

“A tribunal terminated the tenancy agreement and gave Massey until last Monday to vacate the premises.”

Ummm… hasn’t she already vacated the premises? Being in prison and all.
