ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the offender involved in an attempted aggravated robbery early yesterday morning (Sunday, September 22).

About 1.30am a man entered the Spence 7-Eleven armed with knife and threatened the staff member.

The staff member retreated to a storage room while the man reached through the security wiring attempting to open the cash register.

The man was unsuccessful in his attempt to open the cash register and fled the store empty handed.

The man can be described as Caucasian, with a solid build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey ‘hoodie’ and camouflage shorts.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or if they can identify the man in the images is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

I’ve seen signs on banks saying something like “motorcycle helmets must be removed before entering”. Wouldn’t it be a good idea for places to say the same thing about hoodies? Not that that’d stop them, I suppose.

Yep, its not very good. Everyone should be able to go to work and know they can return home safely to their families. I want to have to look at the reason why. Is it because of the wealth distribution causing people to resort to these types of behaviours? Is it a demonstration of different discipline styles coming through now the “cant be hit” generation are all grown up? Is it the perception that the police are’nt up to the task, for whatever reason? A combination perhaps? What do others think?

Dont recognise those shorts, not for men anyway.

Answer is simple. There is far too much human trash around.

Soon the only solution will be to close these places at night, which reduces their incomes and the convenience for locals.

Convenience yes, but seriously, how much income would a servo bring in between the hours of say 11:30pm and 3:30am? Would it really be enough to justify even the wage of the single staff member on duty?

Looks similar to the Northbourne Mugger.

or arm the staff with shotguns 🙂

I am sick of seeing my local servos (Spence and Melba) constantly getting rolled.

The guys who work there don’t deserve this crap. You see the same guys working in each servo and for long hours, which is bad enough, but then to have this happen as well is just not on.

Soon the only solution will be to close these places at night, which reduces their incomes and the convenience for locals. I suppose servos could take on the model that some have done on the NSW far south coast or thru the northern tablelands, which is self serve EFTPOS only outlets with vending machines for drinks and snacks.
